I had trouble with the setup.most kids will too.its more complicated than the intended use.it would be great for older children, despite the age recommendations being 8 and up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It looked much more difficult than it really is and i loved that there were videos on the website explaining everything from set up, to bracelet making & trouble shooting. It took all of 2 minutes to create 1 bracelet and the kit includes everything you need other than a pair of scissors. The most time consuming part of the process is loading the spools (if you do the one with 12 spools) . The bracelets turned out absolutely adorable and it gave my kids bonding time without arguing (yay for mommy's sanity!)we still have tons of spools left to make more for friends or family . It does jam but it's a super easy fix. Do not try to fix it before watching the video. There are simple instructions that dont include just trying to tear the spool holder off ! Lol! I love that it includes a little measuring "bracelet" to help make the ending process of creating the bracelet quick and easy without having to play the guessing game. Super cute, quick, and fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cool Maker KumiKreator Bracelet kit, by Spinmaster, is one of the coolest craft kits I have ever used. The kit comes with everything your child needs to make creative and beautiful bracelets. There are tons of how-to videos and ideas online that help inspire you but if you prefer, the kit comes with patterns. It was a bit tricky at first, for my 6 year old to get the hang of, but it was a great activity for us to do together. Once I showed her how everything worked, she had no problem making her own beautiful creations. The quality overall was pretty good, it occasionally does get stuck but it is super easy to fix and a lot easier than making bracelets by hand. The set can make up to 10 different bracelets.
I would absolutely recommend this set as a gift, for the holidays, or even just a fun weekend activity. It is incredibly unique and something that a lot of different ages will like. It was a blast and we cannot wait to make a few more bracelets tomorrow.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first I was a little bit apprehensive about the KumiKreator Bracelet Maker. Both of my two older daughters (ages 12 and 5) were thrilled to try it, but it seemed a bit overwhelming for my 5 year old, but once we read the instructions and watched a video online, we were ready to try it out and I must say it was so much easier to use than I expected. My daughters had so much fun picking out which bracelets they wanted from the booklet provided and although I did have to help with loading each of the spools of string, it was easy enough for them to figure out and they both loved turning the handle and watching their bracelets take shape. The colors provided were great and they even enjoyed coming up with their own creations after making one each from the book. The machine seems very high quality, not flimsy at all, perfectly for my 5 year old who can get overly excited. They are already asking for refill string (which a quick google search revealed to be quite affordable!) to make more bracelets for themselves and their friends. I would definitely recommend this product to other parents.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is by far my daughter's favorite activity we own at this time. It was very easy to set up, the instructions were clear and provided pictures which really helped us to know how to get it working. After we picked our design using the playbook provided, we picked our colors and placed the spools of string into the right holders. It was a little difficult to get the string through the middle of the holder as it asked because it seems like there is not much room. We noticed that the string really has to be as tight as it can without the string falling back out of the string clip, otherwise the bracelet will be loose and not good quality. To tighten the string we used the spool dial.
Overall it was fairly simple to make the bracelet, using the measuring guide we were able to get the right length of bracelet. My daughter did need a little help with putting the end cap on and then getting the clasp to close together. We found that if we used all the spools of string it was harder to close the clasp as there was more string in the way, even after we cut it shorter.
We loved that there are a few different designs for the bracelets, and that we can make a few different designs keeping it new and exciting. This device does not require batteries, which is great! Each spool of string seems to be enough to make one bracelet, with a little string left over, which we did not particularly like because that string is being wasted as there is not enough for another bracelet. If we could improve a couple of things they would be to make the blue arm and white arm longer so we could get longer bracelets for an adult too. My daughter wanted to make a bracelet for me, it worked however it is very snug.
We definitely recommend this to any girl that wants to make and personalize her own jewelry. We are going to be buying more of the fashion packs for other colors and more creations! We received this Kumi Kreator free for our honest review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to use this with my 9-year-old daughter as we love making things together. The packaging of this item should be discussed because it keeps all the items separate and makes use and storage of this so easy. So it is really worth mentioning. Set up is really easy to do right out of the box and an added bonus IT DOESN'T NEED BATTERIES!! It is has easy to follow instructions and you can also watch a video as well (which we did) to ease in set up. You simply pick a pattern of the bracelet you want, follow the pattern for placement of the string, install the strings, and twist. Very easy and so much fun!!!
The box contains enough string to do 10 bracelets. Securing the bracelet is very simple as well. My daughter did have problems trying to secure the bracelets so I did I have to help her with that part. Make sure you have the clamps on securely to avoid having the bracelet fall off.
Overall, it was a very fun process for me and my daughter and ever her friends as well. I would recommend this product for any child! I did receive this product for free in exchange for a review but that didn't influence this review.
