[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to be able to choose this product for my two boys to play with and try. Not only are they Hot Wheels fans (I'm not sure how many of those cars we have in our house), but they love Mario as well. What I found most appealing about the Mario Kart Circuit Track Set is that it came with two of the character vehicles, and two track lines so that they could play with it together. In that respect, it did not disappoint. They are able to choose their vehicles (even select from our previously existing collection), and race each other. The booster mechanism is a bit on the loud side, so I wouldn't recommend this for a quiet activity, but it keeps the cars flying around the track, which has been highly entertaining for my boys. While it takes a pretty big chunk of space to have set up and running, I do appreciate the fact that it is designed to break down easily for storage and reconfiguration if you want to add other components to it. The track pieces are both flexible and durable. Cars do come off the track relatively easily, so that can be somewhat of a frustration, but it is typically a matter of readjusting the track slightly and hitting the button to release the cars with the right amount of force. Overall, it is a lot of fun for kids of different ages as my boys are, and I think they will have a lot of fun with it

Hot Wheels + Mario Kart = Perfect Pair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right out of the box, this toy offered lively colors and careful representations of game achievements. After an assembly time of about 45 minutes, we were raring to go. My six year old was eager to help with stickers but some placements are difficult to reach. Once assembled, we discovered that we did not have the four D batteries that were required so we had to wait a couple hours before heading to the store. Dad to the rescue when he got home the work and off we went.
This game captured our six year old and was able to hold his attention (and ours) for a solid two hours. I had to quit after about 15-minutes as the frenzy of the track and the vast number of other HW cars this track could handle had my head spinning. My son went through every single HW car that we owned and discovered about 20 other cars that did well, the motorcycles, however, did not (but, like I said, he tried every one of them!).
After a week of use, this track remains a favorite go-to when waiting for the next thing, like Mom getting ready for church, going to the bus, etc. We have also had a couple sleep-overs and it’s been a hit with every young man who comes to stay (and a couple ol’ geezers, too)!
PROS:
• Realistic representations of game-related achievements.
• Works well with other HW cars, including the Mario and Luigi collectors set cars. (Toad, not so much be he looks good sitting in his house!)
• Works well with Hot Wheels City sets through well-thought-out and designed on/off ramps
• Flag Counters allow for a five lap race or continuous racing.

CONS:
• Of the two obstacle buttons, the red one broke within the first hour of play. This “mushroom” button is designed to send an opponent into a dungeon. You whack it a bunch of times when the opponent gets close.
• Item takes up A LOT of floor space and is not easily moved from one place to the next. I will be gluing the based with two movable joints so that it can be more easily carried/transported from living room to dining room by my six year old.

Overall, the quality of plastic is outstanding, the hours of play offered is amazing, and the adaptability of the track to fit other HW Accessories is stupendous. I can’t wait to purchase the other two add-ons, the other four cars and to see what’s coming up next in the future. Thank you for allowing us the chance to play, rate and review this AWESOME toy!

Cars don’t stay on track- frustrates kids

This was our “Santa” gift this year for our kids. While the track and cars look cool it is poorly engineered and becomes frustrating. The cars will not stay on the track for more than one lap. After the first lap they don’t have enough energy to make the loop and fall off the track. I got six different Mario Kart Hot Wheel racers and none of them can make It more than one lap. If you want to get a present for your kids that’s going to get them super excited then bring them to tears because it doesn’t work as advertised, this is the toy you should buy.
I was really looking forward to playing with this toy with my kids as we all love Mario Kart and Hot Wheels...I thought it was an absolutely winning combination, but was sorely disappointed.
(For the record I’ve fiddled with all the track parts, swapped out batteries, and tried to troubleshoot everything from reducing track friction to the geometrical shaping of the track...no joy).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great fun track!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Hot Wheels® Mario Kart™ Circuit Track Set was a winner in our house. Easy to put together, fun to play and easy to use. My son loves adding more cars to the track to see who will win. Cars do fly off the track sometimes and can be a bit loud. It's a race track. It's expected. You can also connect other tracks to it too.
Seems to be a great toy for kids of all genders and ages. My younger niece also had a blast racing cars around the track. They usually lose interest after a few minutes but not with this track.
Must get for any Mario and Hot Wheel fan.

The cars are the only worthwhile purchase

I bought this for my twins and the piranha plant/thwomp expansion sets. It's a cool idea but it is executed so poorly. Have fun putting on 300 stickers while your child asks you if you're done yet. The karts don't stay on the track, the track falls apart constantly, it's made of cheap plastic that broke on the first day, and we were short one connection piece for the piranha plant (which is a useless wind up piece that spins in a circle)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Son loved it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son received this as part of Mattel's Play Rate and Review. From the moment it was pulled out of the box it was a hit (especially since his cousin was here with him.
It took about 30 minutes all together to put it together, including the stickers. The hardest part was figuring out how to connect the loops properly.
It is on the louder side when the motor is turned on so it's a toy area only toy now. Plus it's about 3ft long.
The cars do fly off the track all the time which has caused some upset since it's obviously a racing track.
Putting it back together if taken apart is easy. Just be careful of separation as it will break the connectors.

This provided so much fun for the kids while racing their opponent through the track to the finish line! Lots of giggles and enthusiastic shouts! Hours of fun! Great details and bright colors! A fun collectors item for older kids and adults who love Hot Wheels and Mario & friends! Simple packaging and easy track to put together. The toy comes with the Mario and Yoshi Karts.
