Quick & Easy Set Up

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The router was easy to set up following the included simple direction sheet. A little understanding of networking concepts is helpful but not essential in getting this dual-band router running in your system. This device is a great way to take control of your home network. Be sure to pay attention to the ports that are connected. Tip: Change the password to something that is memorable to make the other connections. Recording your changes to the Quick Start Guide will be a good place to create a written form the changes. Placing the router on a shelf off the floor will help with the overall range of the antennas. This device is an excellent way to increase your access speed!

A little basic, but decent.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is worth noting that this is not a high-end router, by any means. However, for a small office with minimal traffic between systems or just for accessing the internet, it works well. The lack of Gigabit ethernet ports limits throughput, but for anyone in a rural area, it should be more than enough for just a few devices. Many of these areas don't get more than 30 Mbps download speeds, meaning this will handle all of the network traffic with a decent amount of overhead. I would not recommend it for large families or anyone with a lot of WiFi devices, as you'll quickly reach its limits.

Inexpensive, reliable, easy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a necessity for an additional router but didn’t want to spend a lot of money since I didn’t need to router to be feature-rich like my EA9500. Enter the AC1000. It was a breeze to setup - taking maybe 5 minutes - and worked immediately. The devices I needed it to drive included three streaming security cameras and it’s been working perfectly for that job. I have been running it for more than a week, now, under a fairly heavy load and it has handled it flawlessly. Like my other Linksys products, I expect service and longevity. If I had to buy it again, I definitely would.

Decent router for its size

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this router to review, it’s a dual band router, and it’s perfect for someone who live in an apartment or small home, not designed for a large home. It’s easy to use once you follow the directions..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very slim design easy to operate. The wired connection is reliable and fast. Wifi 2.5 GHz upload and downloads depend on your provider Im using Verizon Fios with gigabit service the 5 GHz is, of course, stronger just won't reach as far. If you're looking for a moderate use router for at home, I would recommend this one.

Easy to configure

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Linksys AC1000 while small in size was easy to configure and is packed with options. The dual band allowed me to separate devices and provide better distribution of bandwidth in the house. The miniature size and support configuration allowed me the opportunity to place it visibly in the middle of the house and distribute signal throughout the house while allowing me to place it in an area that was totally unnoticeable. The signal strength was good enough for a single story house but it needed a little more power to cover the extremities of the second floor.

Underwhelming hardware
on November 8, 2019

I've had this router for 3 months thus far, and have had the chance to put it through its paces, as well as have set up and configured two others.
The router is extremely slim in its feature list, which given it's price point is expected. If one is looking for a router with more advanced security features past the basic of setting up a DMZ in your network or port filtering, you best look elsewhere. This router is clearly aimed not at tech savvy users but for the general public who are expecting plug and play.
In the regards to plug and play, its a big miss. Hooking it up and getting it to work wasn't hard. However, getting it to play well with other devices like Chromecast and smart home appliances isn't. When you have multiple devices hitting up the network, frequent disconnections, and massive slowdowns occur frequently.
Even when one is using wired connections the same issue occurs.
As I'm lucky enough to work in electronics repair and installation, I've dealt with a total of 3 of these, including the one in my home (using as a temporary holdover until I we move). All three of these, as well as a returned unit had the same fundamental problems. The hardware isn't designed to handle the rated speed (the chipset is usually used in wireless-n 300Mbs units), and especially a realistic workload of more than 2-3 devices connected to it.

Hi,

This is an odd behavior for the Linksys router. The router should be enough to handle more than 2-3 wireless devices. There could be multiple factors that are causing this intermittent connection.

We suggest that you make sure that the firmware is up to date, then reset and configure it again. Once you've successfully configured the router, observe the stability of your connection.

Should this behavior persists, we can have our Second Level Technicians contact you for further troubleshooting.

Just send us your contact details at LinksysCares@linksys.com so that we can escalate your case. Don't forget to include the link to this post as a reference.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Thaddeus
