[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received my P53 with i7 and T1000 slightly late, but was worth waiting. It has run what I've thrown at it (3D modelling with Metashape) and the battery life when not doing very intensive tasks is better than I expected. The quality of sound and image (with IPS panel) is very good. Appreciable for working outside are the very loud speakers and bright screen. As usual with Thinkpad, the keyboard is solid and a pleasure to type on. Altogether, the computer feels well-built with hardly any give. Understandably, though, it is rather of the very heavy side and is not made at all to be carried around all day every day (doesn't fit in standard 15" laptop bags for example).
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, I am very happy with my new ThinkPad P53 mobile workstation. The keyboard is nice to type on, the 500 nit Dolby screen is very bright, and the Windows Hello camera and fingerprint reader work well. I got my configuration with the i7 processor with no vPro technology and the Quadro T1000 graphics card, and it is plenty performance wise for running Adobe Premere and such. The battery life is actually not that bad for a mobile workstation, I get 9-10 hours of basic work (email, word processing, etc.) and about 4-5 hours of graphic intensive games and video editing.
The only reason I give this machine 4 stars is because of my strange experience the 2nd day of using it.
The machine died overnight on the first night. Fine, the next day I go and plug the machine in. I open the lid and press the power button and nothing happens. So I let the machine charge a bit, and then try again. No luck. I had to open the back panel and unplug the battery, then drain the static charge by pressing the power button, then plug the battery back in before the laptop would turn on. I haven't had this problem again and so far the machine is fine in all other regards so that is why I still give the machine 4 stars.
