[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first Thinkpad, I've been impressed with the consistency of the high performance. I use it mainly for work and although I probably don't push this computer to it's limits in terms of what it can handle, it does well with heavy business use that involves large and complex excel spreadsheets and databases. It's on the heavy side but I don't find it to be to inconvenient. The battery isn't great but I never expected it be and although its not the best, considering what I use it for, it usually gets me through most of the day with no problems.
My only qualm about this particular P53 is the keyboard. Being my first Thinkpad, I had always heard that the keyboards are exceptional and for the most part it is. However, on the model I received, there are three keys that don't always register when you press them. The "m" key, "c" key, and left shift key are won't register unless you press them at a certain angle making typing somewhat cumbersome. It's a small inconvenience but when I have to type a long document, it becomes annoying having to be conscious of pressing those keys harder than the others. Although it's annoying, it's not so bad that I would return it to be serviced. Not yet at least. I live in California so, at the moment, dealing with the inconvenience is better than having to ship it all the way back to North Carolina to be serviced and waiting two weeks to get it back. Also, I do have to mention that I think, or hope, that this keyboard issue is only an individual problem and not a quality control issue. I like to think that maybe I was just unfortunate enough to receive one that has these issues.
I'll probably try to get the keyboard fixed on my own at some point and other than that, it's great and I hope it lasts for years to come.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Switched from Mac to Thinkpad and man alive is this an upgrade. I love this laptop, it does everything I need it to and more. The keyboard is unbelievably satisfying, the feel of laptop has a wonderful rubbery finish. Love it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great all around business laptop. It is ideal as a desktop replacement and as a true auto-cad laptop.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop hits all of the high marks for ease of use, the openness of the system, and the speed with which it does everything. I have never experienced the ease and speed of installing software, and adding any printer, docking station, or external drive. I was pleasantly surprised how that it added 2 different printers in just a few minutes, in actually less time than it takes to tell about it. The large keyboard is a delight to use, the monitor has the crispest, most beautiful colors I have ever seen on a laptop. I feel great about my choice, I feel like I got excellent value for my dollar. The only complaint? I wish they could make it in different colors.
