I use this laptop for work. I do not like it. There are three things that are just poorly engineered:
1. The hinges are too tight so cannot set the laptop on a desk and open it with one hand. You lift the whole laptop off the desk. This annoys me every time.
2. The heat exhausts out of the right side. If youre using a mouse, the laptop puffs hot air at your hand.
3. The Fn and Ctrl keys are places compared to most other laptops. You have to be conscious of this every time you use a hotkey.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the ThinkPad 1 month ago and I'm very happy with it so far. Easy to use, nice design, long lasting battery.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent computer and checks all the boxes I was hoping it would. My primary uses are email, web, light photo and podcast audio editing. Coming from two previous X series Thinkpads, I was looking for something that was a highly portable, solid all around machine, with the flexibility to ramp up the processor for certain tasks and throttle back for lighter duty.
The 10th gen i7 does this easily. On lighter tasks, the cooling is silent. When you need power, it's there, and the fan is noticeable but not too loud. Construction is solid but not heavy, and the IO is good. IPS 1080 display is perfectly fine. The default 150% scaling made apps and icons a little too big for my taste. 125% is the sweet spot for me.
Quibbles: losing the full SD slot and Ethernet jack from my previous machines is frustrating, but almost every manufacturer is moving away from those. MicroSD on the back is really only useful for storage expansion. Keyboard takes some getting used to, not sure if it's the size or key tension or what. Lastly, when open, the rear flange of the display case near the hinge sits very close to whatever surface you have the machine on and scrapes easily, likely to scuff over time.
