Best doorbell in price range
on May 14, 2020

The setup was easy, but few quirks. Didn’t worked with iPhone but android was straight forward.
Pros:
1: Best picture quality in day time.
2: works with 5ghz wifi
3: Very angle lens making it easier to mount even side ways.
4: Creates 3 sec gifs and also capture a picture song with video to quickly view when there is motion detected.
5: Last 3 hrs of free cloud storage in case someone takes your doorbell.
6: Supports 128 gb card.
7: Works with existing mechanical door bell.
Cons:
1: Night time video can be improved
2: Should increase free cloud storage to a day or 2.
3: No advance settings available in app
Tips:
1: Try connecting using 2.4 ghz first as it has more range and stable if router is little far from it. If for any reason it won’t connect to wifi, use your phone hotspot with same name and password as your home wifi to configure. Once done it will automatically connect to home wifi.
2: Use downward angle plate even if not needed, it will help reduce false motion trigger. It is wide angle so picture won’t be affected.
3: Down EZVIZ Studio app on pc/Mac and use advanced setting in it to enable WDR(wide dynamic range), change frame rate and other settings. It makes a huge difference in quality even in night time.
4: Share doorbell using share feature in app to install on someone else phone.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Product

Used this product for 2 weeks so far. Very happy with the functions and quality. I can get rid of my old battery driven camera now, which does not work well in Canada in the winter when temperature drops to below -10.
The resolution of the picture and video is good. You can see people from head to toe. and the delivered packages on the ground.
The best thing is I can use a SD card, and don't have to pay monthly fee to anyone. All videos are replicated in cloud for 3 hours. If someone steal your whole doorbell, you have 3 hours to download the videos from cloud. I believe that should be enough time if that extreme event happens.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good choice if you're into lots of drama

EZVIZ DB1 – great if you’re into drama
The good: Picture is good
1. Records every car that drives by in the next 2 blocks (in high def if you want it),
2. Nice wide-angle picture so you really can see the package that’s supposed to be on your doorstep.
3. Response time for Live View seems to be pretty decent (haven't tried it while I'm away, but at home it seems to be good).
4. Support was responsive and quick (I called because it went offline and they told me my voltage – which was well within the range specified in the manual – was insufficient. I don’t know if they could have solved any other issues.)
The Bad
1. Records every car that drives by in the next 2 blocks (in high def if you want it),
2. Tricky to install – my default mode is DIY and usually I get things going reasonably easily. Not happening with this one! (see #3)
3. Description of electrical requirements and instructions are incomplete or just plain wrong;
4. Software is clumsy and even what's there doesn't work. Doesn't delete what you want to delete, can't play what you want to play (displays "No record at this period" message), and keeps crashing on my Android device as soon as I try to select more than about 60 items to delete (see #1).
4. Support tried hard but so far the only thing they have been able to tell me was that the voltage was insufficient (sounded like they get this one a lot). When I tried to measure the voltage in response to their request and got nothing, they just told me to try again, requiring a flurry of texts and a THIRD visit by the electrician.
5. The “free cloud storage” they advertise may or may not actually be real. Impossible to tell from the results I'm getting at this time.
The Ugly (okay, maybe not but couldn’t resist!):
1. Started off wonderfully: the advertising says installation requires a wired doorbell. I have that! 3 hours free storage. Works for me! I bought it! So... My Default mode is DIY but got an electrician to install it anyway - we'll call him Bob - he follows instructions. The book says it requires 8-24VAC current. I have that, too! – my circuit has a 12VAC transformer! So Bob installed it to my 12-V circuit. The DB1 worked just long enough for Bob to be satisfied and go on his merry way. 2 hours later this thing goes offline and I can't resurrect it no matter what - tried all the standard uninstall, re-install, disconnect, reset etc. Nothing! Several hours of futile search later I finally call Support, and that guy tells me, “oh, you need a 16-24V circuit, so just install a new transformer”! Wait a sec – the instruction manual says 8-24VAC! They took absolutely no responsibility for that, not even to thank me for telling them their manual is messed up! Anyway, now I need to get Bob back here to change the transformer ($$$) and a new piece of equipment ($$$ for the transformer). There was no hint ANYWHERE that this would be the case: the only reference to voltage was in the instructions (securely wrapped in the box so by definition you don't get it until AFTER you buy the thing) and even then it’s just dead wrong. So Not Impressed Incident #1. This all took a couple of days and multiple calls, chats, and emails, all with no doorbell, by the way. It wouldn't even set off the chime in the house!
2. Advertising says you can “combine a wide range of other EZVIZ smart home security devices for the ultimate ONE APP experience” – ah, yes… but you need a separate subscription – paid – for each and every one of these devices. They forgot to mention that – Not Impressed Item #2.
3. Spent forever trying to set the range (Alarm Area setting) – I DON’T NEED TO HAVE CLIPS OF EVERY VEHICLE THAT GOES BY THE HOUSE!!! Instructions are wrong on that, too. Doesn’t tell you Alarm has to be on to be able to set this. This may set the alarm range (I don’t know yet ) but it certainly does not affect the clips that are recorded. Not Impressed Item #3. You’re getting the gist by now, so I’m going to stop saying that.
4. Even longer trying to set the sensitivity: that setting is described in the support stuff, but it’s nowhere to be found in the actual software. (NII #4. Couldn’t resist.)
5. The cloud storage: this advertised (loudly and with large block letters) as 3 hours free cloud storage. I have several Blink cameras so I thought I knew how that worked (I use the free version, so 3 hours and then it starts overwriting etc – I clear the clips every morning when I know I haven’t been robbed, and this has been working for almost a year). Well, EZVIZ doesn’t work that way. I can't figure out how it does work, but it's clear that it doesn't work "that way".
My overall impression: this thing is a budget camera with budget features and budget-budget documentation. I would not purchase it again, and I would definitely recommend a friend to avoid it. Still trying to decide if I should keep it or just return it and get something that does what it says it does, with fewer undocumented requirements) to get it going.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A little disappointing.

I bought this solely because it advertised as working with Alexa and had an RTSP stream I could load into my surveillance software.
There is no functionality to chime Echo Dots, it only works with the Echo Show. I do not have this nor any plan of getting one so that was rather misleading.
The RTSP stream “works” but kept cutting out and I could not get a solid feed going for very long.
The PIR motion detection sets off alerts for every big truck passing by even when it was on the slowest setting.
Install was easy and straightforward. The app works fine and there wasn’t much of a delay when someone rings the doorbell. The quality of the image was decent when comparing to other non big name products.
In the end I returned it and am going to wait for a better option. Perhaps the UniFi doorbell as it’s in early access and looks promising.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Broken under month
on January 9, 2020

Had the device installed for month. it has delays and network issues, .so I contact support via email and call a few times. They are requesting to change chime power adapter also change router. The call center couldn’t find out. then they create RMA and says I must pay to send the device back, so they can look at it. So i was away from home I ask my daughter to ship it she send it in regular mail so now they are asking for tracking no. looks like they lost the device
Not worth buying

Video Door Bell is EZ

This doorbell was very easy and simple to install ( many video's online ) My 30yr old + mechanical chime had a 10V transformer that worked fine to power up the DB1, however the chime inside needed more power. Upgraded the transformer to 16V and now the No-name chimes inside work just fine/infact better. Remote App Setup & DB1 confg -connection to wifi was easy and seamless. The video is perfect at 3MP and with the porch lights at night, videos are in color. I shut down the IR lights via the app / reduces heat build up. The PIR sensor is adjusted to only trigger when someone approaches the front door. The remote notifications work just right - only when the delivery guy drops off at the front step does it push me a note. BTW the latest firmware ver allows use of a 256GB micro SD for internal/local storage.
All the fasteners / wires / special tools are included.
YMMV
