Mold and odor, don’t buy!

I have been using the Ubbi diaper pail for the last year in our son’s nursery. After using it for about 3 months we noticed a foul odor. When we opened it all up we saw black mold growing in it. We thoroughly cleaned it, dried it, and put it together again. However, this kept happening. The lid is now rusted and the mold keeps coming back. We’ve tried a variety of products to keep the smell and mold at bay. I just ordered a Diaper Genie to replace our Ubbi. I’m disappointed because I loved the color and look of the product, but it seems like there’s no way to keep the moisture from hitting the lid and causing the mold and smell to come back. I hope you can solve this major design flaw.

It Smells

We have been using this pail for 6 months & from month 3 it smelled gross. I have cleaned it, we use Ubbi brand bags AND even the ubbi brand scent absorbers. The pail is closed tightly & it smells up the nursery. Would not recommend.

Love the size of pail and convenience but after a couple of months it stinks so bad. I have cleaned it multiple times without any luck. I took it apart and I believe the smell is imbedded in the rubber seal. I can not get the smell out nor find a replacement.

Great Item!

We added this to our registry and we're so glad we did! The smell is well contained and not having to buy special bags is a plus. The only downfall is that I wish it was taller. My husband and I are both over 6ft, so having to bend down so far can be a pain

Permanent Stink

I received this diaper pail from my registry and was originally pleased with its size and aesthetic. However, as time has gone on, the diaper pail has started to REEK. Every time we open it the room fills with the scent of old poop. We tried to deep clean all of the parts with bleach etc, and discovered that the main issue is that the plastic seal takes on the smell of the diapers…permanently. My son is 15 months now but we’ve been dealing with this issue for at least the last 6. This product is not made to last. Don’t waste your money.

Does what it's supposed to do

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter, who wears pull-ups at night, was inspired to use this in the mornings before getting dressed. It encourages independence and responsibility. The rainbow print is helpful, as she is super girly and loves all things rainbows. Has a child lock to keep little hands away from soiled diapers, so that's great until the child learns to unlock it. Thanks to BzzAgent for the opportunity to review!
Pros: Child lock, Isolates smells, Uses standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bags
Cons: Lid is difficult to remove in order to empty
