As elegant as it is functional

I was forced to put an island hood in when I replaced my electric downdraft range. I was extremely hesitant to add something that would break up the room...I took a chance with this hood. It looks fantastic! My contractor and decorator were shocked at the quality and price point. Arrived in a timely fashion. Install was quick and easy. Very quiet and efficient. Adds a beautiful focal point to my kitchen!

Very good job of venting, even on lowest fan speed

The hardest part of installation was preparation of a solid mounting surface in the ceiling. Not sure why the mounting kit included drywall anchors ... it needs to be mounted to solid wood with very sturdy screws. I vented through the roof and that also took a good deal of preparation and a separate roof vent. I built a simple "table" out of scrap wood that I set on the counter top, straddling the stove top. Two people could then left the hood to the table top and with shims adjust it to exactly the right height to fasten the frame screws. It would be very difficult to do this any other way unless you have at least three people. The hood itself works very well but it is loud and vibrates slightly at the highest setting which I have never found a reason to actually use. The unit came with LED lights that I had to substitute for the original small halogens. I like the LEDs much better. It looks great! The glass seems to create more of an "open" feeling in our relatively small kitchen.

Exhaust with 7' ceiling

I purchased the Z-Line exhaust with the short stack for a 7' ceiling. With the short kit I had to cut off about 3" of the angle iron & the lower stainless steel covering to get my 30" clearance from the stove top. This required drilling the angle for the fan to mount on. There was a transformer that had to be relocated for the covering to clean on one side. The final install took three of us to mount the unit. All this work seem worth it, the unit seems of good quality, runs quite and adds good LED lighting over the stove.

Accessory or necessity?

I bought a 36" ZLine hood as a 'nice to have' accessory. Now I realize that it is a kitchen necessity. Would do the same purchase again. I also shopped other brands but the ZLine offered comparable quality at a much better price = best value.

Good exhaust power

We are very happy with our island mounted range hood. We needed to place it high enough for my 6 foot plus hubby to see people between the range and hood at the island bar. For this reason, we needed a strong draw from the fan. Like the lights too! It is pretty and practical!

The design is modern and is slim ......we put it in a kitchen that was opened up by removing some
small wall sections to have an open concept.....the fan with its design allows it to be there and yet
does not create a block in the open floor plan.....

I would have rated higher if I did not have to return 2 units due to quality control issues. Having said that; the customer service was 5 stars. The hood is great: works efficiently, cleans easily and looks good too.
