Flip 36 - don’t trust the advertisement

The Goal Zero Flip 36 is the worst electronic product I have purchased, but I guess you get what you pay for?
I am just disappointed because it never worked the way you advertised. I took great care of it and it just stopped working within 6 months of use. It never seemed to recharge my iPhone “up to 3 times” lucky if I got 1 full charge and now the unit itself won’t even recharge. Not to mention, the fold-out usb port is a terrible design - very weak and just waiting to break.
Now that I’m looking for a more heavy duty portable charger, how could I even entertain Goal Zero after such an experience with their entry level product never performing to how it’s advertised? Did I get a defective unit?

Useless used it once to charge my phone when I was in the middle of nowhere. I was so relieved to have it with me that day. I got home charged it, it has a blue blinking light, I thought it was charging. Next day my phone died again I thought no problem I have my trusty goalzero but it did not charge my phone. Came home charged it same blinking light tried it again did not charge. Useless!! waste of money

Thanks for the feedback. If you are seeing the blinking blue light but it won't charge your phone, the unit might need a reset or there is an issue with the battery. Please email support@goalzero.com so we can assist with this.

I used this no more than 5 times before it stopped recharging. The flip up USB is a terrible design flaw. I thought I might have gotten a faulty unit until I started reading others reviews. Same problems all around. Don't waste your money.

built in charging USB

I had a flip 10 for at least 4 years and it hasn't let me down. Finally stopped working because I accidentally plugged it my adapter into two different outlets which were side by side, shorting it out. Given the price I paid, it was so worthwhile. The flip out USB for charging makes it super convenient and I never have to worry about forgetting a charging cable for my portable battery. The flip ten does a remarkably good job recharging too, I always got around 80% charge. I I just ordered this product as a replacement and am excited to get it soon! I wish they still made orange though :/

I got two of these thinking I could get used to the design flaws, NOPE! It’s just terrible, where you plug to in to the Solar panel is a usb on a swivel which can and definitely will break. There is no way to take it off the Solar panel the softly as to not damage it. Just get a venture 35 it’s worth the extra money and works really well.

Won’t charge

I bought this in July for a 6 day kayak camping trip. I have the Nomad 7, and didn’t think this would be more than plug, charge, use. It never charged from my Nomad 7 the entire trip. After the trip, I bought a cable with USB on both ends and tried charging from the wall and from my PC. It relentlessly flashes a single blue light at me. when I plug it into my phone, it starts to charge and then dies. This is after my Nomad 7 won’t charge my iPhone directly, which is why I bought it as the middleman. I really wanted to love GoalZero, but with two failed products, I’m over it. Looking for other options.
