Love them

I waited 7 months to review to see how they worked out. I use them daily. I like the 15-degree blade. New to me. The edge holds up well and is quite sharp. Their hand-held sharpener (set to 15 degrees) is a great accessory. I was concerned about the black finish wearing off quickly, but Schmidt assured me they had resolved this issue using an improved finish. At 8 months, being careful not to use abrasive sponges or cleaners, the finish is as good as day one. Very happy with the knives. Not so happy with the block. It kinda looks cheap. My personal opinion! Others may love it. I felt it should be all jet black as well. I took mine apart and painted it. I feel it looks much better having done that. However, I ultimately chose to hang them on a black magnetic bar to save counter space.

Black Coating is Flaking off

The black coating is peeling off after a few months of use. I have only handwashed these knifes so its a bit frustrating that the coating is peeling. Just buy normal non finished steel knives. I wish I could go back and buy some normal non-coated knives instead of these.

Black flaking off into food as I cut

I bought these knives 5 months ago and the black finish is flaking off as I cut, and getting in my food. Not happy about this but was happy with the knives until this started. I’m hoping they are returnable. I have only hand washed them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Paint flakes off into food

Bought this product a little over a year ago. Hand washed them each time after use. And the paint has chipped off. The knives are beautiful and are great to handle but the paint chipping is a problem.
