I purchased this 5 months ago for use in a second home. The recessed handles are perfect for a small space in that they do not stick out and take up less room. The fridge cools extremely well. Frozen foods stay frozen. Refrigerated foods stay refrigerated. The insulation is sufficient to keep foods cold and/or frozen through short periodic California summer power failures. The light is bright enough to see everything inside the refrigerator compartment. The unit uses noticeably less electricity than the one it replaced. I am so pleased with the performance, this is the second I have purchased of this unit. I purchased the first approximately four years ago as a "second' refrigerator for my main house. I would buy this unit a third time if the need arose.
Bought this about 3 months ago and it runs well, no warmer or cooler spots vegetables last long enough to eat them all. Cold but doesn’t freeze drinks or food, except in the freezer
Fortunately, I bought this refrigerator for my garage. If it were in the kitchen, I'd ask to return it. It is very noisy when the compressor is running. As a comparison, I have another GE side by side in my kitchen and can barely tell when it is running. It should have nothing to do with the environment in my garage. I have a mini-split AC and keep the temperature at 68 degrees in the winter, and 80 in the summer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello there - Thanks for sharing your feedback. We're very sorry that your refrigerator is louder than expected and we truly do apologize. The new high efficiency compressor on modern refrigerators may run faster and longer than your previous refrigerator and generate more sound. You may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating which is normal. Here's an article that provides a list of normal sounds your refrigerator may make: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901
If the sounds you're hearing are abnormal, service may be needed. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737 or online here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm
