Brought it a few weeks ago and from day one it's been humming all day an night
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

For refrigerators and freezers to maintain proper temperature, the compressor will run much of the time. Newer refrigerators have compressors that are designed to run 80% to 90% of the time. If you're hearing a strange hum, we recommend taking advantage of the warranty by scheduling service. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737.

I had been searching and looking around for a fridge and happen to stumble at one, this simple clean white elegant Hotpoint fridge, a perfect size, quiet, and definitely serves its purpose.
