It works fine, but the flange plate that attaches the horizontal tail piece to the disposer, the hole is larger than the flared flange of the tail piece. I had to use the old one from my other disposer to make it work. Further, because of the body of the disposer, the factory flange plates has flat spots in order to fit inside the body of the disposer. Since I used my old flange plate, I had to grind these flat spots on the flange plate to get it to fit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Too Early to Comment, But!

Purchased and installed 10/6/14 so it is too early to comment on performance or reliability. However I can say that I was disappointed this disposall was not compatible with standard mounting hardware and required additional time to remove the existing sink flange and mounting collar to use GE's proprietary hardware.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

In the time we've had this, I haven't really used it more than 10 times. So far, no clogs and nothing in it stinks, so I believe it is adequately grinding and disposing of scraps that have been put through it. Not noisy, actually quieter than our dishwasher (not GE, and we bought used, so older as well). One of the only things I don't like about it is the rubber part on top that keeps the food from going down into it is very stiff and just sits there, so I have to make a point to shove it down through with my hand before I run it. Even then, it's hard to get chunks through. That may not be all bad, though, I guess.
