Lap tops used to click pleasingly into place on the older style docking stations. There were plenty of ports in the back, so your wires cables and connectors were out of the way. Plenty of room on both sides of the computer to do your work.
Not so with the new version, which doesn't even qualify to be called a docking station. There is nothing to "dock". It takes up both Thunderbold USB C ports with an odd, stiff double cable that takes up lots of real estate on the left side of the machine. I'd hate to be a lefty, and have these cables getting in the way of my mouse.
Installing was not smooth. The system required several attempts to download drivers and updates for the docking station. It never registered as done, actually, and the Dell tech had to say he didn't know what was wrong, but it didn't appear to be causing problems. So we agreed to drop the issue.
I thought docking stations were supposed to have enough room for all your ports and peripherals. But I'm now looking for some kind of USB hub, because this thing does not have enough. This was the only option for docking stations, so I was forced to buy it. I guess it is better than not having one.
But, why couldn't they at least have designed the mother board to have those two Thunderbolt ports in the back of the laptop instead of the side? Why couldn't they at least have included enough ports to replace the two it requires to function? For that matter, why doesn't it have more ports that you need?
So, for my money, a mediocre product.

Within one day of installation, I was getting messages that my 180W power adapter was only supplying 130W. Only one of the two channels was illuminated at the plug into the computer!

Unreliable

This dock is a disappointment, it frequently has compatibility issues with my Dell Precision 7540 desktop-replacement workstation laptop over its dual USB-C connection. In addition, the dock goes to sleep when idle (e.g. when the laptop is not plugged in) and to fix it the only way seems to be hard rebooting it by pulling out and replugging its power cable.

Product Specification missing the key points

I was in touch with the Dell Support since I couldn't get it to support Dual-QHD monitors with by brand new Latitude 5300. Plugging in dual QHD monitors with/without the laptop screen ends up with one limited to 2048x1080 resolution at 24Hz. I have updated all firmware & drivers and I have also tried all possible combinations of DisplayPort/HDMI ports on the dock.
I found a workaround by connecting one monitor to the DisplayPort on the dock and the second monitor via HDMI directly to the laptop. By that I am able to get full resolution on both monitors - but it defeats the purpose of the dock almost entirely.
Instead I wonder why Dell designed the Dock with so many USB ports (1x USB-C3.1 Gen 2, 3x USB-A 3.1 Gen 1) eating up the bandwidth of the USB-C port while most used will connect keyboard, mouse, headset, IP-Phone via USB2.0.
I could have saved a lot of money with a simple Dell USB-C to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB 3.0 Adapter (DA200).

Dell Performance Docking Station WD19DC

I've had the WD19DC docking station for about a month and it seems to work fine. I have two monitors plugged in along with external hard drive and printer. I can also charge my phone/ear buds off the USB-C connection. It appears to have plenty of power for the previously mentioned items plus running a Dell Precision 7730 laptop. The best part is when I take the laptop with me, unplug one cable and go.

Make sure the Docking is truly for your Machine

In my opinion if a Docking station is not rated to plug in and provide the amount of power it needs then it is not compatible with a laptop. A laptop that needs to be plugged in because the docking station does not provide enough power renders the docking station better than 50% useless. I'm positive that it's a good dock for the correct machine. I warn anyone purchasing this unit to make sure that your laptop is truly compatible. My issue I think is more with the representative I worked with than the docking station itself.
