a big improvement

Wasn't perfectly easy to set up but also was not too difficult. Set aside a couple of hours for random glitches during set up.
The connection speed and reliability are very much improved. Connection now also very reliable.
The only thing preventing a 5-star review is that it would not accept a satellite placed on a different floor even though it was only about 30 feet away. Will try again--could have been another random problem. I followed the rule of "getting it working, then get it working the way you want".

Should have done this years ago

Replaced a single access point with the AC3000 main unit and two satellites. I have many smart home wireless clients and was worried that changing out the network underneath them would lead to all sorts of chaos but simply by choosing the same network name and password during setup resulted in everybody joining the new network. Administration is very easy if you have little to no experience with routers as the more advanced settings are their for folks who feel the need to tweak their network to their heart's desire.

Best Ever

I work from home and have video and voice conferencing almost 10+ hours per day. My wife often is at home and watches video and does FaceTime while I am working. These devices work better than the Apple Airport mesh network I had. I've gotten all my coworkers and family to buy the same Orbi routers. The dedicated satellite device channel is key to making sure your browsing and Internet usage is optimal at all times. We also stream 4K for al our TV and Movie watching into my Roku and Visio TV...perfect every time.

Orbi RBK50

We got the Orbi after looking at it and the Eero to see if we could get good coverage in our L shaped house. The Asus router we were using would just about do the job but even with an extender it was tough on the far end of the house to get a consistent and strong signal. With the Orbi not only do we get good coverage there now but even in my loft of my shop. We have no drop problems and set up and config was easy. Even after a firmware update everything works great. Highly recommend this for a mesh system very happy

Worth the money

So I switched my old linksys router to the orbi and boy did I make a good decision. It was a little pricey but the performance is well worth the money. I have recommended this to everyone I know and will continue to. The setup was so easy that my technologically challenged parents could do it. I have a family of six with streaming TVs, smart phones, tablets, and laptops going all the time and there is no lag or buffering while watching tv with a lot going on. One of the best purchases I have made by far! Thanks netgear!

Awsome Orbi

Love:
1) Form Factor
2) Ease of Setup
3) Most importantly, the performance
Areas of improvement needed:
a. Add a mounting feature so you can "hang" the router or satellites.
b. When the satellites are synching, have it flash thru the colors so you know it's actually working, and put in the manual that it may take 5 minutes. It should also not go to Magenta first by default, and that just creates anxiety (it shows magenta momentarily as a poor connection, and then moves to blue, best connection).
Great product!

Excellent coverage

I have had the system for a few weeks and my old system consisted of an extender which was a pain to switch back and forth. The coverage was ok inside the house for most places but dropped to almost nothing just outside the door. Now I have max speed everywhere in the house and everywhere in my yard. I also had problems if there was more than a couple of people online the speed with be greatly reduced. With the Orbi I recently had 6 people online and was still getting 130 meg download which I pay for 100 meg speed.

Orbi

I have an Orbi with the router and 2 satellites in a 4500 square foot home. I get the same speeds when using wifi throughout my home as I would if I were using an ethernet cable connection. I've read all of the negative comments regarding the set-up and firmware issues and can honestly say that I've not run into any problems at all. Set-up literally took less than 5 minutes. I am extremely happy with my decision to go with the Orbi system and would recommend to anyone who has need of an expansive an reliable system.
