Great system

I had been frustrated for some time with my current WiFi setup. I prefer to keep some of my computer equipment connected via wire which dictated the placement of the WiFi router at one end of my two-level house. As a result, I had poor connectivity at the other end including my patio area. After doing some research I decided to go with a "mesh" type network and the Orbi system was consistently getting the best reviews so I took the plunge. The new equipment has been set up now for the past couple of weeks and it is working great. I no longer have any connectivity issues on the patio (or anywhere else!). Overall throughput has increased as well. Once I discovered the "Advanced" settings via a direct connection to the master device, I was able to set up port forwarding and DDNS services without any problem. The phone/tablet app doesn't meet my needs but the browser interface works well.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my new Netgear Orbi system and highly recommend it!

Solid multifloor coverage

We just moved into a house that was laid out a little broader than our old place and the router had to be installed in one corner of the home on the first floor. Due to the construction of this house, our wifi range was limited and we had very little signal from the rented router our internet provider gave us.
I took the plunge and bought this mesh router system and my own cable modem and it has worked out perfectly. The setup was very simple with the app and the signal lights make positioning the satellite unit child's play. My girlfriend was concerned about the amount of light that the satellite was giving off, but it only lights up during setup and doesn't cause any light pollution in our room (the most effective spot for the satellite ended up being the master bedroom).
Now I have very strong wifi speeds at close to the max that my cable modem can deliver all over the house. Like in most cases: you get what you pay for and this system is worth every penny.

It's worth every 5-star review

I was looking for a WiFi Mesh system that would provide the best performance regardless of price. I looked at review from multiple tech and gadget sites and the NETGEAR Orbi AC3000 was always at the top of every site. At first, I thought it was either corporate favoratism or paid reviews, but after using it for a month, I can definitely say that every 5-star review was accurate. You get great performance regardless of where you are at within its field, you have zero dead zones and the user interface is amazingly simple yet helps you keep your network secure without any confusing prompts or settings. Setting up the hardware seems intimidating when you unbox everything, but the setup was a simple as turning on the satellites and clicking on 'Add Satelite' in the Orbi app. When positioning the satelites, there's no guesswork involved. Each Orbi satelite will flash red if it's in a spot that will not provide coverage. I had everything up and running in less than 10 minutes.

Device met our expectations

I am extremely happy with the ORBI mesh network extender. It saturates my home with WiFi and gives us uninterrupted access for our devices in every corner of the house and well out into the yard. It provides a single network SSID to connect to wherever you are in the house unlike previous solutions that I have put in place.
The ORBI helps immensely with connecting to peripheral devises such as WiFi printers and Smart TVs. It also helps to work with other tech devices such as coding my Raspberry Pi projects because it extends one network throughout the house. This provides solid coverage for connecting to these devices remotely through SSH for example. It was a bit of an investment but has been well worth the money. We can even set up guest network access to turn on or off when we need it. It is easy to monitor and control through the mobile phone app as well.
We are very happy with the performance of the ORBI network extender and recommend it without reservation.

Initial impressions install and usage RBK53

U shaped house with an atrium in the center, historically bad signal from one end to the other. Add to that strong signal from neighboring houses (go figure). Bought the Orbi 3 pack, followed instructions (so simple) strong fast WiFi through out the house. Observations: old speed test wirelessly some where around 50Mbs close to gateway router. Speed test with Orbi installed around 300Mbs! The Orbi app for iOS seems a little buggy. Got in this loop of trying to register with email and password and later would not authenticate. Lastly, my wireless Ring devices have got a very strong signal. But in a r cent trouble call they suggested because of the single SSID across Orbi router and satellites the Ring devices might be confused bouncing from one satellite to the other causing delay issues. So maybe there is one ask from NETGEAR will we have the ability to create a unique SSID For each Orbi router and satellite? Might be a technical reason that I don't understand perhaps.

I'm an IT engineer and I deal with WiFi and general network performance ALL THE TIME. I've setup and managed hundreds of WiFi products for enterprise and residential situations. The Orbi product line is the best WiFi experience for almost any setting. At my current home I've used Ubiquiti, Linksys, Cisco, Ruckus, TP-Link, and even other Netgear products (in standard & mesh formats). This pair of Orbi SB50s is the best setup hands down. Blanket coverage, range, clean device connection performance, smooth connection experience, and advanced features. Period. I'm such a nerd that my favorite feature might even be the wired connection capability for backhaul. Most mesh WiFi systems will only backhaul using there wireless radios on a different band. My house has some network cabling run to other areas so I can connect the two devices hard-wired. Every network technicians dream! You will be doing yourself a huge favor with the Orbi solution. Good job Netgear. Highly recommend.

Getting a full 130Mbits+ through my cable modem using the RBK50 mesh system. For years I lived with an aging Apple wi-fi router and extender where I could get at max 50mb through the cable modem. Always thought the problem was with my cable provider overstating their bandwidth. But the bandwidth problem disappeared with this new mesh network.
Also, my entire network got easier to manage. I didn't have to hardwire devices to the router to get better bandwidth. I now have 20 devices that our connected to the Mesh getting excellent bandwidth, even with multiple systems communicating at the same time.
And the simple app let's you know which devices are connected, the Orbi router/satellite they connect to), at which spectrum (2mhz or 5mhz)they connect at, and the device name and mac number.
I've recommended this system to all my friends you may be living on a router network over 5 years old or who thought they had to hardware into an ethernet switch to get max bandwidth.

Completely satisfied

Frustrated by my ISP's all-in-one router/modem performance, The plaster walls in my 2200 square-foot home seemed to eat WiFi signal the further on wandered from the router. The signal in my sons' playroom at the other end of the house was virtually non-existent, and there wasn't even enough signal to run an Amazon Echo device without constantly having to reset it. Enter the Orbi AC 3000... Setup was relatively simple, and would have been even more so had I contacted my ISP's tech support before starting (combo router / modem resisted the initial self-setup). The consistent and powerful signal (not one drop in over a month) is omnipresent within my house, and I even get full signal in my tool shed / man cave forty feet across the back yard... Had I known it would be this effective, I would have pulled the trigger on this a year ago. Random negative, reviews had me worried, and I wasn't sure how it would work with my older plaster walls. Bottom line: This is the solution.
