Orbi Home System - WAP Success
on May 29, 2019

For over several years I was looking for system that had better coverage in our house. 7000 square-foot and three levels to cover. Previously we had a great Netgear wireless router with repeaters, but that had connection issues at times and weak areas in the house. With the installation of the Orbi and three satellites strategically placed have us unbelievable speeds through the house. What sold me on Orbi was the Tri-Band setup and of course the name brand. I found the Tri-Band has a huge benefit over other home area networks that are on the market. The main thing is speed. With today's streaming devices and required speeds, the Orbi is a good choice. Do your research and check reviews and specs like I did. Perhaps a little more pricey, but the return value is worth it.

Best improvement to my internet connection
on May 29, 2019

I have been desperately trying to get my wireless network to work consistently for over two years. I have changed routers. Check my providers connection. Had their access point replaced and more with no improvement. I finally decided to try a mesh router. After talking to several people and doing some research online I decided to get the Orbi. It was a great choice. So far I have had full internet connectivity with no dropped signals. I still have the same obstacles like aluminum siding and large distances but now everyone is connected and happy. I was even able to connect my sprinkler system controller, which is outside, with no problems. The only thing I might do is get another satellite to see if I can improve my outdoor coverage. I am very happy with this upgrade to my network

Fantastic Mesh system, plug-n-play

Our house WiFi was part of a 'gateway' (modem/router combo) as provided by our ISP. While we are on fiber and have great up/down speed, the dual channel gateway did a poor job of handling device hierarchy and making sure devices which support 5ghz actually end up on the 5ghz. Enter Orbi....router upstairs, satellite downstairs. This thing automatically hands off devices based on best available access point, and does an amazing job of making sure devices are all delegated amongst available bandwidth. The app is a little lackluster, but if you want more advanced settings the web UI provides it all. Overall, we are extremely happy with Orbi. WiFi coverage is maxed out, not a single weak spot across our entire property (not just the house'”backyard, front yard, garage...you name it!)

Exceeded expectations

I thought my ISP was choking but it was actually my router. Constantly having to unplug and reset my WiFi, now that the WiFi is coming from the tri-band Orbi, my network is screaming fast and has no issues whatsoever.
Instantaneously I had full coverage in my 2800sqft house when I could barely get any signal just 30 feet from th router. No I can hardwire devices into the satellite upstairs (great for the philips hue hub) and the issues I once had with my z-wave devices going haywire while my philips hue hub was plugged in. I can't say enough good things about how great it is having a mesh network. I know the price tag seems steep but it's a one time expense for a product that greatly improves literally every task that requires an internet connect (ie everything we do nowadays).

I really do Love this new router, however it is not strong enough. I have only a 2400 sq. foot single story home and it is working everything but I sometimes have slow connection or interruption. This Orbi mini I bought states it is good for 4000sq. foot home... I bought this because I was having major issues with my alarm system and cameras. Everything is working now, but I do have them go offline sometimes still. I am going to return it and buy a bigger one for 5000-6000sq. foot home. Also, the bigger reason I want to exchange for the bigger is the mini only has 1 extra port on the back so I had to get a switch to plug in my alarm system. I need more ports and I don't want extra items on my desk or to plug in. I just want the router that is strong enough and has enough ports.

Upgraded to mesh WIFI network

Getting our new home ready to move into and wasn't happy with the coverage of the WiFi with the WiFi router my isp provided with the installation. Had been wanting to try the Netgear Orbi Mesh Network and this gave me the opportunity to do so. Very easy to install and in only a few minutes maybe 10 I was up and running. I'm getting in excess of the 250 mbps up and down the isp is providing with the new fiber system and the Orbi system. I can't wait till year four of our contract with the isp when we go to 500 mbps. Orbi allows me to move my cable boxes around the house, pool area and garage to watch tv with the wireless tv the new isp is providing also. Thank you Netgear for having a system to allow me to have a highly functional WiFi in my new nearly 4000 sqft home. Doug Newman

We recently bought a house that is all brick and I could barely get wifi on the back deck even with Xfinity XB6. I have Gigspeed so I didn't want to sacrifice speed just because of poor wireless signal. I also use Arlo cameras out at the front gate about 100 ft away from the garage and didn't get signal out there. I placed the Orbi Router in my office, and a satellite in the attic above the garage. Now I get full bars of wifi on the back deck and 2 bars out at the gate, plenty for live-streaming the Arlo Pro 2 when I get an alert. Setup took a few reboots of the Comcast modem once I changed the mode for it to completely transition off using its wifi. Also, make sure you update all your Nest and other wifi products to your new network. Overall, 5 stars. Very good product and easy setup.

Orbi

The NetGear Orbi has dramatically improved my home's wifi network. Previously, I would have to cycle my old router off and on because devices would get kicked off of it due to the amount of devices that were connected. My old router just couldn't handle it. I also had a hard time connecting some devices on the opposite end of my house. The WiFi signal is now vastly improved thanks to the Orbi Satellite. I have even wired in some of those devices devices that hard a time getting good signal. This has taken those items off of the WiFi network, further reducing the WiFi demand and increasing the the strength of the signal on the other devices. This device also saved me from having to track down my frayed home wiring network and having to climb into the attic to re-wire my in-home network.
