NETGEAR Orbi High-Performance AC3000

The Orbi AC3000 met all my expectations and then some.
I bought the 2 pack and it worked out better than i thought it would. My intention was to buy the 2 pack and see how many more I would need to purchase to cover my whole house and yard. I have the best modem Verizon has to offer. The modem is in my basement and i could not get great reception across the room, never mind on the next floor. I put the main Orbi next to my Verizon modem and plugged it directly into the modem. We put the satellite Orbi on the second floor of our cape cod style house and now we have great coverage everywhere in the house and yard without any lag or disconnects. This was our best electronics purchase is years! We are very happy with it!

Been waiting for something that works

Been waiting for something that works and spent about 6 weeks researching different brands and types. I live in a 1967 single story 1400 sq feet home. Did I need 5000 sq feet of coverage? Yes. Remember that 5000 sq feet is open and ideal conditions. I wanted coverage for every corner of my home as well as all around my property. I have wireless security cameras and some are outside so I wanted a saturated environment. The Orbi RK50 was the final choice. Setup was easy, coverage was as expected. The software can be controlled by either phone or PC and it is super easy to work with. Firmware updates were hassle-free. Not all mesh networks are alike so be cautious when choosing your equipment. I do highly recommend this product.

Awesome coverage

I have been using the Orbi for about a week now and so far its been awesome. Just doing a test I streamed video on three different TV's in the house. So that was two TV's upstairs and one TV downstairs. I was on my work computer and my wife was on the iPad shopping. Didn't see any real dip in download speed. The square footage in my house is approx. 2,400 sq. ft. I purchased the router and one satellite and it covers the house fine. It also completely eliminate the one huge dead spot in my kitchen which was annoying at times when I was working at the kitchen table. Overall I am glad I made this purchase. This system is more expensive than other systems but is absolutely worth the money if you have a multi level home.

Superior WiFi coverage

Upgraded from an Apple AirPort Extreme, 2011 model. The difference in coverage with the new Orbi is pretty significant. Our smart devices are not losing connection like they did previously. Even the WiFi speed is so much faster anywhere we are in our home. We even have great coverage in our backyard now. The old WiFi router just couldn't give us the coverage in our townhome style home. Some areas had great coverage, but other areas very little until we upgraded to the Orbi system. A great advance in technology. Highly recommend the Orbi RBR50 especially if you have a multi story home where a traditional WiFi router is not able to give you the coverage and speed needed for your devices to work properly and efficiently.

Excellent mesh router, easy setup, great design

Replaced a Nighthawk X6 R8000 that was still completely functional, but wanted the single SSID and additional features of the Orbi. The fact that the satellite has 4 Ethernet ports is super convenient for my wired gear that's not near my modem or router. Unboxing was very Apple-like, setup was intuitive, and the app is very easy to use. WiFi coverage has improved in some of the far reaching places of my house, like the backyard and front drive way. This seems to have helped some of my smart home IoT devices stay connected and not use as much battery. My wireless iOS devices also pull down around 15-20 mbps higher than with the nighthawk. Wife approves of the physical design of the Orbi router/satellite more than the nighthawk ;)

Does the job so far

I am pleasantly surprised. The devices work well. I have 1 computer in the house that is too far from the router AND needs an ethernet connector. At first for that computer I had one extender and the performance was hit or miss with the load being too much for an extender at times. I bought 2 satellites and the main orbi device. I connected the Ethernet to one of the satellites and my issues were totally resolved. Very pleased. Also my router is in the basement and there were areas upstairs with poor connectivity. The Orbi satellite also resolved that issue. As I expand my home security to place cameras on the outside, I am confident that the orbi will allow for the connectivity for those outdoor cameras. I'm very pleased.

Life changing product!

We have a Verizon Gigabit internet account and two Apple Airport Extremes. One repeats the other. It should've been able to spit out my internet speeds everywhere in my house (it's not that big). Not the case. If I was next to my router, I'd get 300+MBps. If I was upstairs, <5 MBps. And upstairs, I was next to my repeater that said it had a great signal! I tried using another repeater -- same issue. Instead of spending another 25 hours researching and hacking something together (which may have worked), I just bought two Orbis when it went on sale. Ten no-instructions-needed minutes later (including unboxing and putting the second Orbi upstairs), I ran a Speedtest. 750MBps near the router downstairs, 300MBps upstairs. Life. Changed.

Exactly what I expected/needed

Got my Orbi a few days ago. Setup took less than 10 min...seriously. The Orbi app did most of the work too. I have FiOS Gigabit service and right now I am getting 640 download and 157 upload consistently. My dead spots are gone and there is no noticeable lag in any connected devices no matter where they are located in my home. The router itself has a very modern look and blends in to almost any place you choose to place it. I am usually not the type to review anything I purchase, but Orbi solves problems that the FiOS installer could not with my Quantum Gateway router. If I could, I would post images of my speed tests to prove how consistent the speed is, and if I could give Orbi six stars I would. Great product, worth every penny.
