Problem Solved

Purchasing Orbi is one of the best decisions I've made in awhile. My Comcast Internet was always rediculously slow with speeds of 5 to 50 Mbps in different locations around the house (using their Arris modem and one range extender) i couldn't stream in some rooms, no access in others and slow to connect "ring" at my front door (if at all). Now my speeds are well into the 120+ range all over, including the rear of my backyard where I never had signal before. What a difference! So easy to set up a "non-techie" like myself connected with ease. Yes, the units are rather large and price is a little high but well worth it. My expectations have been well surpassed.

After reviewing the many options for mesh WiFi these days I settled on Orbi given everything I'd read online. Main concern for me was ability to have a good signal through some very dense walls. Not having a very large space, but instead a very linear space over two floors with the cable feed at one end meant I need the ability to push a strong signal through the floors and also boost at the other side. I went from having a very weak 4-5Mbps in the opposite corner of my space to having a consistent 3-400Mbps on a 500Mbps service.
Very happy with the now effortless WiFi that powers every smart home device, streaming 4K content, live camera feeds, etc

I've tried several options to maximize WIFI in my home (repeaters, mesh, etc.). And finally found a system that does it very well, and with NO loss of signal strength. That's the big thing with Orbi, the satellite does not take the signal and cut it in half, it uses a dedicated backchannel to provide the satellite its signal and it's the same strength as the Orbi main router. For my home that is 3,500s.f. and two stories, that has been the solution. I have many devices hooked up to it, too - smart TV's, laptops, iMac, phones, iPads, cameras, lights, and Sonos. The signal is strong, and each device seems to be operating at optimum strength. We love the Orbi!

had a quantum gateway, my provider said it was the best router it had available. didn't reach half my house. glad they now list orbi, it provides coverage to whole house, and even remotest corner has the full speed 150/150 that I have from my internet service (with only one satellite) router is twice the price, but we couldn't stream movies downstairs before. app, security, parental controls all easy to use and well presented. units have a pleasant appearance as well. other good features too like offering a solution to a network printer, for use with multiple laptops. great system, whole family is happy now and not griping about the tv buffering...loving it

After years of struggling with inadequate wi-fi coverage in our home I decided we have had enough. I went to local electronics store and asked the pros and this setup was highly recommended. It was quick to set up and now we have astounding internet throughout our two story home, and outdoors as well. One thing I don't like about this setup is that they have to 'sit' on something; they can't just plug into an outlet like an air freshener like some of the competitors' offerings. If you have a place to put these, they will perform great. These really make a significant, positive, difference in the way we enjoy being online with our mobile devices.

Solved Our Problem

Was using the internet providers router and an extender to reach 3,000 sq. ft. home with 30ish devices connected. Had to switch between four different possible networks and try to solve the dead area problem. Was getting half the download rates in the back half of the house.
The Orbi solved the problem. Connected the router to the service providers modem and set the Satellite in the middle of the house. We now have zero dead spots and I am consistantly getting the full download rates from our internet provider. Even extending out to all area surrounding the outside of our house with no drop off in speed.
Well worth the money and super easy to setup!

Mesh hero

So we decided that our home needed better wifi coverage due to a large number of devices so off to costco we go. We choose the GoogleFI kit which was a good value and after all is said and done it went right back due to the limited changes that could be done to it. So then we got the Ombi RBK50 which came with 2 satalites and the base which the coverage is far better then I could have ever expected. And with the nighthawk's software which is what I really wanted but needed a mesh system was so happy to find out that Ombi had it. TLDR: don't let the price scare you from this buy because it most deffently is a top 2 mesh product and number one is far more money.

I went from an "Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station" to the Orbi AC3000 (refurbished). With the single airport I had low signal strength on my ground floor to my Airport in the 3rd-floor bonus room (3100 sqft house). A few drop outs and Youtube on a Roku TV and fairly low resolution (as measured by the stats tool). With the Orbi I put Orbi base unit in the attic (just like the airport was). I put the satellite on the 1st floor next to my TCL Roku TV and plugged the satellite into the TV via ethernet cable. I was able to get 4K video 80% of the time and the rest of the time a notch below 4K. Very good. I'm completely satisfied with the Orbi's performance!
