Plugged it into numerous configurations, multiple displays, wireless mouse, etc and it just worked with the dell model 3500 laptops we ordered. So easy to have the dock just find all the devices through Win 10 and never had to install one driver.
The docks were poorly designed and the USB- C cable breaks easily and dell doesn't have replacement parts. The entire dock lines needs to be revamps. The current docks just look cheap and unprofessional with cables coming out in all directions. They also move easily and cables can get loose.
My biggest issue was the size and weight -- the power pack was as big as the dock. Between the dock and the power, it weighed almost as much as my actual computer... not quite, but almost.
Additionally, and this was the nail in the coffin for me, I use my laptop for presentations. When I plugged the HDMI cable into the dock on one laptop and HDMI directly into the laptop on a second laptop, the quality of the image was extremely different. I tried to adjust, but it just seemed like the dock made the image degrade a bit -- and that's just not OK for my line of work. So, unfortunately, it didn't work for my purposes. It seemed sturdy but a degradation of signal from the HDMI port was not OK.
You get what you pay for...and this is worth paying for!

Verified Purchase:Yes
I had previously ordered an off-brand USB-C dock to connect my 2 4k monitors to my laptop. It did not have a dedicated power source and I went through 2 units before finally getting a refund and purchasing this Dell unit. The Dell is just under twice the cost, but I can see why! I've had zero problems with it (I have a Dell laptop) and it is simply a higher quality unit. Well worth the extra cost.
I had this dock with my company provided Dell Latitude then changed jobs. I tried a few cheaper brands/models, but none of them provided power to the laptop and could project to multiple monitors, so I still had a power cord, HDMI cable and USB-C cable plugged in to my laptop. I purchased this one personally and love it! I have 1 plug into my laptop, the USB-C cable, and nothing else to mess with. Highly recommended for multi-monitor USB-C use.
