Thermostat doesn’t work well

I bought two of these units and went with a mechanical thermostat instead of the electronic version. I had an electronic thermostat version, and, as other reviewers have pointed out, if the power goes off for whatever reason (we live in a rural area, so that’s pretty often), it doesn’t power back on. Other than that though, I was impressed with the overall quality, so I went with the mechanical version. Well, big mistake to assume I could set the thermostat on the mechanical version and it would maintain a consistent temperature. There is no rhyme or reason to when it comes on and/or turns off. You would think that the point at which it comes on is the current temperature of the room, and if you wanted to maintain that temp, you’d leave the dial right at that point. Nope. Outside temp goes down, it doesn’t come on and the room is 9 degrees in the morning, lol. Conversely, if the outside temperature increases, you’d expect that it doesn’t turn on because it’s warmer than what you just set. Nope. It randomly comes on whenever it feels like it, even if it’s 28 degrees in the room. Both of the ones I bought do this, so it’s not an isolated issue to that one unit. Unless you need a simple on/off functionality paired with a smart plug like some are doing, I’d recommend something else. For me, I expected the thermostat to work as intended, and it simply does not.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Makes good heat.

This is the second Delonghi slim style heater I have purchased. This one is manual control and the first one is digitally controlled.
The minor issue I have with the digitally controlled unit is the programed timers are reset during a power outage.so you can't use a wifi plug with it.
With this manual model I set the temp and power and plug it into a wifi wall plug. The wifi plug kills the power with each cycle but the settings are exactly where they were before when it activated again. I can change run times from my phone
Can't do this with the other model.
I am happy with this unit .. its timed to turn on every night from 8:30pm to 10:30pm to pre warm my room during winter. If I go away and forget I can disable the schedule from my phone.
This heater is used in our 200sq ft master bedroom with 3 outside walls on medium power setting.
We use the one now in our mobile home up north.
I would recommend this to a friend!
