Not the best purchase for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its durable and well built but aftwe uaing it. Its not practical for what i paid. The machine is well built with a beautiful design but it would be nice to be able to angle the vent in other directions. Also the exaust vent is horribly designed. Its nice and elegant but its a round peg going into a square hole kinda situation. I installed the vent in the window and went to put on the vent hose to correctly install it in my window i would have to cut a chunk out of my windowsill. I finally got it in there, but with a few gaps and it was completely crooked. There are also no release tabs to unlock the hose from the snap on psoition. When i take it apart to move the machine, i feel like im gonna break it trying to get it off. And as far as the condensation outlets go. Theres two holes for the water. One is up high and im assuming its for a pan runoff. That one has a hose hookup but didnt drain the pan. The bottom one actually drains the pan but you cant hook a hose to it. It would be nice to have a removable pan that you can pull rather than moving the whole machine to a spot to be drained. Sorry im not a fan of this fan.

Underwhelming

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few weeks ago and I’m disappointed. Doesn’t get quite as cold as one would expect. It is serving one room but doesn’t do a great job of cooling it down. When I took it out of the box it was covered in a dusty black residue (see photo).

Hello, Pmoran14! For best cooling performance, be sure to use cool mode and a high fan speed. The appliance will start up in eco mode by default. Be sure all four of the air filters are clean and the intake grill is not blocked. The cabinet and front may be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. ~ Brandi

It struggles to cool on 80 degree days, and should it be 90 degrees, it feels like nothing is happening. It’s costly for what it does do. Perhaps if I would have paid another 100 for the larger model it would cool my tiny studio. Sadly dissatisfied.

*Ensure the capacity of the room air conditioner fits your room size for efficient and satisfactory operation.

*Try installing the room air conditioner on the shady side of your home/room. A window that faces north is best because it is shaded most of the day.

*External house shading with trees, plants or awnings will help reduce the air conditioner’s workload.

Don’t buy it

Builds mold quickly

Unfortunately this model builds mold quickly. There is no supporting documentation on how to safely open and clean the mold out from the device like some other AC's out there. Save your money and get something that won't end up making your air quality worse.

Hi, Coughingmold! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Mold appears as a result of a damp environment, so any place that’s subjected to excessive moisture is at risk. Air conditioners remove moisture from the air. The water collects in the base of the unit. Under normal conditions this water will be evaporated out of the unit.

However, it is possible for some water to sit stagnant in the base of the air conditioner for extended periods of time. There is no easy way to prevent this problem. The problem will be reduced if you carefully clean the base of the inside of the air conditioner at least once a year. That will keep any dirt, lint or dust from absorbing the water and allowing mold and mildew to grow.

The cabinet and front may be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. You are able to view any cleaning instructions in the manual, with the following link, http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Edison/16120600a09454en.pdf on page 12.

Beautiful design, but it does not cool adequately

This unit was sized for a 450 sq ft room. I placed it in a 320 sq ft room and it very seldom hits a 68 degree set point, usually only when outside ambient gets around 60 degrees. It is in a well insulated, closed room and just does not do the job. I am very dissatisfied with this a/c, especially considering its cost is significantly higher than window units.

Water Tray fills up on cool mode

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 3 weeks ago. While the AC works fine and cools well, I’ve only ran it on Cool mode but the tray still fills up with water. I’ve had to drain the tray every night. It didn’t even last 8 hours of running without giving me a P1 error.
