On my old docking unit (E-dock), I could unplug the power connection to the docking unit & still have everything else working (keyboard, mouse & video). I did this so I wouldn't overcharge the battery. On this unit, everything goes out when I unplug power to the docking station, I have to leave it all up & running (& continually charge my laptop). But otherwise a great unit to have, just plug it in and it's all set to go. Oh, and bit slow swapping over at my home desk where I have the home laptop on the other end of a 2port KVM.
Difficult to deal with. Really no indicator that is easily visible to see if turned on. Has issues where dual monitors are a problem until you do specific dell updates (these should be done before product is sent out).

I order the docking unit to ensure the use of multiple monitors but when I purchased the dell 43 in 4K monitor it had all the input ports needed and my Precision 5760 laptop connected with the 4k resolution so I will return the docking station as unsued. Thanks
