Missing pieces
on July 18, 2020

A number of times, i found the needed pieces in the next numbered bag (misplaced) and I'm also missing all 3 of piece #6257336, which is vital for tread function. Not sure how that happened, especially with the hefty price tag.

Thanks for your review. You shouldn't find the pieces you need for one bag in another. If it ever seems that way, it's a good idea to go back and double-check your build. There may be some similar parts that were accidentally swapped. Or the parts you need could be hiding in the corners of a bag or dropped on the floor.
If you’ve checked all over and the parts haven't appeared, don’t worry! It’s super easy to request replacements. Just go to LEGO.build/BricksPieces-BV to get started.

Being a kid again

When I was a kid I LOVED Lego. It was all I ever wanted as a gift. I got made fun of a lot and eventually, I stopped. I years later finally remembered that Lego was a thing and that, now being an adult, I can buy them. I have bought a couple of other sets, but I decided to go all out and buy this. It has been one of the stupidest, but next financial decisions I have ever made. I am so happy with my purchase. It is the most joy I have felt in a long time. There is many more to come. Thanks.

A great build

The instructions were mostly clear and the few mistakes I encountered were easy to fix. The testing steps went well and I ended up with a functioning model. A great job by the mechanical engineers at LEGO! A few negatives for me were: 1. The 100 round studs used to simulate a load are a total waste. They are impossible to pick up. Go on the Internet and see many videos where reviewers end up hand picking up the studs and placing them in the bucket. I ended up using plastic Easter eggs. They are smooth and don't get hung up on each when you try to pick them up. Ping Pong balls would probably work too. 2. The controller app could use some work. I would like to see the hubs being turned on through the app instead of the buttons. Also, the four buttons on the control screen used to create saved movements are too close to the tread controls and are too easy to hit when controlling the treads. A different layout moving those four buttons elsewhere would be nice. All in all pleased with the model and I look forward to more TECHNIC builds.

The Liebherr R 9800 Excavator is one of my favorite sets. It took a LOT of time to build, and there were several times when I put a piece in backwards or upside down and I had to backpedal a few steps to undo some mistakes. But if you stay focused and pay close attention to the instructions, it’s very doable and extremely satisfying when you finish. IThe functionality of the set is far beyond any other LEGO set I’ve built, and it’s an absolute joy to play with it. Highly recommended, in spite of the rather high price tag.
