Cannot make it turn open

Was unable to get it to work---I tried everything I could think of but apparently one must have bowl, lid, blades, etc in perfect alignment for it to turn on, and being 2 months shy of 80 years with arthritic hands I never did get it right. So very disappointed---I bought it because I wanted to puree soups--ended up using my mini blender in batches and have an olive oil covered kitchen from the spatter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
