What a product!

While out and about I'd often hide my camera in my jacket. In the colder temps of an Icelandic winter this became a problem - with every unzip of my jacket to capture moments of our vacation - I'd invite wind, rain, and sometimes snow into my jacket, onto my camera, and I'd immediately regret it. By the time our trip was over and we were home in VT i had this waiting for me at my doorstep. Love this product! Super easy to get on and off my Nikon D7100 with a 50mm prime lens or my 70-200mm. I'm often out in all weather conditions with my camera so having something that keeps it safe is key. This shell was it! It's very well made construction wise. Love the look and feel of the material in hand as well!

This product is a perfect partner if you are looking to protect your camera / lenses from scratches if you don't have a dedicated camera compartment in your bag. The shell covers the camera perfectly and now I can place it my backpack with other items without worrying about scratches on the body of camera and lenses.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic camera cover

I take my cameras backcountry backpacking and I can't let the weather stop me from being ready for a good photo. This cover, combined with the Capture Clip on my backpack, made 5 days in Glacier National Park in Sept 2019 with tons of rain a total non-issue. I do wish there was a size in between the small and the medium to make using the camera easier while keeping the cover on in the rain. On a Fuji X-T2/3 it fits nice and tight... but its so perfect I found shooting with it on being challenging. However, I didn't worry about moisture on the camera at any time except in the heaviest soaking rain which only last a short while.
Having the ability to photograph the changing weather in the mountains while keeping the gear dry was fantastic.

Amazing piece of gear
on January 19, 2018

I just returned from 2+ weeks in Chile (Patagonia, Rapa Nui, and Atacama) — one of the most demanding environments I'd ever experienced. The shell was critical particularly in Torres del Paine where the rain often fell horizontally. My gear was perfectly dry the whole time. Can't wait for you guys to figure out a way for me to protect my longer telephoto lenses.
I used the small shell with Olympus OMD EM1 mk ii and 14-40 f2.8 Pro lens for 10 days of ski mountaineering - attached to rucksack strap with Capture 3. The system worked really well once I got used to it. I removed the PD hand strap as it just got in the way and tethered to camera to my rucksack with some 2mm dyneema and a carabiner to minimise risk of loss in some silly steep places. I did find using the zoom a bit fiddly but otherwise it was great.

Ideal for lightning photos and severe weather photos

I use the Peak Designs shell on a D850 and a 24-70 zoom and lightning trigger for lightning photography. I can leave it in the weather on a tripod and the camera and lens is fully protected. I also use it for storm chasing and it protects against weather plus it protects when things get rough. On the go, it's nice to have the camera ready in the car but be protected against scratches and bumps. The quality of the material and sewing is incredible. Everything in this design is nicely done!
