Suspend, with the packaged rules, is fun for a short time. It's interesting to play out your pile of bars with three friends and watch the structure evolve. As adults, the basic rules simply make the game too easy and if you're the first player it's very easy to win. Adding the dice rolls adds a bit of luck to the gameplay, since you might lose your turn by rolling a color you've already played. After about five games of playing by the rules, the game becomes less interesting and fun. In order to make the game more interesting, last longer, and allow for more players - 4 player maximum is very limiting. We changed the game to have a pull pile and to be point based. Place all bars in the center of the table. All players will pull from these bars. Play starts with the first player and proceeds clockwise. Phase 1 - The Build The player rolls the dice to determine the bar color to be placed. If there are no bars of that color, then the turn moves to the next player. If there are bars of that color, then place the bar on the structure. Any bars that fall during that players turn are negative points for each notch in the bar. For example, orange bars are -7 and yellow bars are -2. All bars that fall off the structure are placed back into the pile. The bar being placed by the player must be placed (hand removed) for play to continue to the next player. If the bar being placed also falls, the player receives negatives points for that bar. Phase 2 - Deconstruction The player removes a bar from the structure. Only one bar can be removed per player turn. If more than one bar is removed, then the player receives negative points per notch on each bar removed; this includes bars that fall during removal. If the player successfully removes a single bar, then that player receives positive points equal to the number of notches on the bar. Once all bars have been removed the player with the highest score wins. By changing the rules, the game is opened up to a larger number of players. The game also lasts longer with bigger, more unstable structures. The game also becomes more strategic and is often about how to cause other players to lose points. For even more fun, we added a second set of Suspend. Lastly, as a gaming group we feel that Suspend could benefit from additional pieces. For example, pieces that are bent, pieces that are not symmetrical, etc. would make the game more challenging.

This game has changed lives. I've read some negative reviews here. People are saying it's boring or unusable... Hate to say it but this is more a reflection on the creativity and imagination of a few select "individuals" then on the game itself. This game has brought my colleagues and me hours of fun. Challenge. Suspense. Camaraderie. Anguish. Comebacks. And finally... Victory, sweet victory. You can taste it in your mouth. Hubris is not tolerated, punished in fact. This game teaches humility, teamwork, courage in the face of adversity. I type this a changed man. Thank you to Melissa and Doug. You both have managed to create a powerful game... nay... experience.

This is a great fun product! fun for the whole family and works great to develop hand-eye coordination, patience, and understanding of physics. It would be nice if there was some sort of expansion that can be added to it to make the game more expansive and even more fun. We try to think of ways to add more people and make the game longer and more difficult but all we can come up with is buying a second to add people and more pieces. All in all a great product and fun every time you play.
