[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought mostly for the black stainless steel. the problem is the flat surface at the bottom; the large surface area causes the smoke/steam/cooking gas to condense very rapidly at the back(close to wall) before it has a chance to get to the vent (towards you).
Had replaced 3x--every time there has been a defect....still waiting for 4th replacement. It's going on a year now. Save yourself the $$, time, & aggravation!
We bought this canopy hood, along with an entire suite of KA appliances for a kitchen remodel. We love this hood. It does a great job of sucking out orders from food without being too loud. It also has a great look to it, not to bulky - very streamline and sleek. It's taking me some time to get used to LED lighting, as I've had halogen bulbs for the past 12 years and am not use to such bright white light. The only reason I'm giving this hood 4 stars and not 5 is because of the position of the 2 LED lamps, they reflect off the knobs on my KA 5-burner cooktop and cast "spots" on my ceiling. That may not bother some people, but I don't care for stars on my kitchen ceiling at night. I know if I had a different cooktop where the knobs were positioned on the side, this wouldn't be an issue but I wanted all KA appliances with matching handles and the same "look".
We just had it installed in our new home, the fan makes loud noise, but doesn't take out cooking smell, whole house smells like cooking. HVAC folks checked the vent for any obstructions or baffles, nothing found. installer says there is no baffles within the vent, vent goes straight up to the roof vent, still trying to find a solutions from KitchenAid folks
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dear Kishan:
Thank you for contacting Whirlpool regarding your appliance concern. We are happy to look into your concerns but we will need your model and serial number, your address, your user ID, your Review ID Number 90556001 , and date of purchase emailed to NAR_CUSTOMER_SOLUTIONS@KITCHENAID.COM.
We bought this hood to go over our new 36" Dual Fuel KitchenAid stove and it looks and works great. We use low speed 90% of the time BUT we select auto as well and it has increased the speed from low to med a few times when we get more burners going (6 burner stove). The 2 front LED lights give really good light and the rear light (night light) is a nice feature. My only question would be why KitchenAid didn't use an LED for the rear light as well. Less power, less heat, same illumination etc.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Looks like a fantastic unit but the instructions are lacking for a do it yourself install or pre planning. When installing they give no tips or tricks to remove the protective stainless steel plastic. I fact they don't make mention of it. If you remove the protective coating on the vent covering it will leave nasty scratched in the black stainless when you slide the two sections apart. So Beware!
