Great device but.... it loses connection to my phone randomly and I have to spend at least an hour trying to get it it to reconnect to upload my rides. I'd give it 5 stars if that was fixed.

I bought the 830 on sale as a replacement for the 130 Plus for a single reason for a sensor capability that apparently was lacking in the latter. I like the 830 though I thought the 130 Plus is more intuitive in terms of operation. The 830 has a larger face and a better data display. When the price of both computers are close the 830 is a great choice.

I bought this to replace and update a bike computer that I was using. The Edge 830 was a great choice for me! It’s very user friendly, touch screen is awesome, and it is easy to mount. I only road bike (with a trike because of balance issues) so the features that it has are adequate for my needs.

I was in a toss up a year ago - wahoo vs Garmin. I went with the Wahoo and was happy with it. The buttons are nice for the control - setup easy on app.
But I had a chance to get the 830 to try it out. Over the last year, I bought Garmin Rally pedals- and some of the data was only available on a Garmin head unit. Garmin Varia. Garmin HRM. They all did work fine on the Wahoo but I became more interested in the extra data - as I didn’t know what I wasn’t seeing. Was it worth the $$? Probably not, but the 830 does seem more high end with the touch screen. Some noticeable things I didn’t know- The Garmin HRM I got does not connect as a sensor to the Garmin connect app The Specialized MIPS helmet doesn’t appear to connect to the 830 - due to Garmins own incident detection feature? Strava routes function does not seem to work within Garmin Connect - some Google security feature issue - but my head unit is showing my PR achievements The Garmin IQ app is clunky with tons of watch apps - I don’t use a garmin watch (yet?) so the edge apps are a minehunt.
I do like the touchscreen to quickly swipe screens - I live in a dry climate so I don’t have issues of a wet screen I do like how the Garmin software has a VO2 max estimate I can see and read the screen just fine while riding.
Like many, I have multiple bikes, so the Garmin 830 will be paired to my bike with the Garmin Rally pedals, and I’ll use the bolt for my other bike.

I've had my 830 for two years. It's a reliable device and I love the data capture by it. I'll always own a bike computer and look forward to upgrading.
