I was riding my bike early morning and I have a emergency on the road . I have the emergency settings contacts in my device and the alert was activated my contacts respond in less of 2 seconds.
I been using this for 3 months now. On the bike it works exceptionally well, but everyone else not so good downloading to iPhone, that is very disappointing. I have to use Strava to share my rides and performance. It saddens me that Garmin would make bike computers with such promise and fail in details of interfacing. In our changing technology you would think Garmin be the leader and here we sit behind the times.
I loved all of the features of the unit, but the issues with buttons (the back button was incredibly hard to press) and the fact that sensors were often dropped was enough to return the unit.
I own several gps units, including Garmin's venerable 500 from years ago. The 530 is the right combination of size, color, and mapping, to be useful in a variety of circumstances. I just completed a cycling trip to the Alps, and I had downloaded the appropriate maps into the 530. No one in our group had the confidence in their gps that I had in the 530.
I upgraded to this unit from a 820 that I hated. This unit works well and is easy to read with my old eyes. The only complaint is the incident detection triggers way to easy and puts my wife into a panic everytime I stop riding. IT doesn’t even let me know it is calling her. I had to send the notifications to myself to turn it off. However my 820 didn’t even trigger incident detection when crashed my bike at 40mph!!
