About a month ago my old 820 stopped working so I decided to try out a Wahoo Element. Bad decision. So many features I didn’t like and so many features not available. So, I have returned and am very happy. I’ve used Garmin for many years and now I know why...it’s the best.
Auto pause doesn't work great. I even changed it from "stopped" to less than .1 mph and it still pauses while the bike is rolling at 1-4 Mph so I had to turn the feature off completely. Garmin/s auto share beacon integration doesn't work well. I found lots of users on Garmin forums for months with same issue and firmware after firmware don't fix it which is stupid in this day and age. This is essentially an IoT device and needs to work all the time other wise we should go back to our phones as trackers. Garmin will need to step up their software/firmware game or someone is going to fix their issues by releasing a better product. I'm not going to return cause I'm hoping Garmin wants to make these products work better and more stable and with more cloud enabled functioning features. Honestly it was a gift otherwise if it was my cash then I might return it and go back to that other main competitor who's name I won't mention here
I have been using Garmin cycling products since their inception and in fact used the old Motion Based before they sold out to Garmin. Having said that, I am a bit disappointed so far with the 530. It is replacing my old 520 which never failed me. I've only had the 530 a few weeks and it has already had several glitches. Customer support was able to help me with one, but there are others that I've not called about. For some reason after charging it will not turn on normally. I've had to hold the power on button for about 30 seconds and then it finally comes on. There have also been times when powering off that it does not power off completely. The power button icon will show and I have to hold the power button down for about 15 seconds and it will power off and on again. My concern is that it is already having these glitches. What's next? As such I'm on the fence on how well this product works....
Just have to give kudos to the Garmin Edge 530 after 60 days of usage. This unit is awesome especially with the features that's packed in it. What I really like is the extra apps that you can download through Garmin that you can add to the display. I've downloaded a weather app which tells me in real time the current weather a well as wind speed and the direction it's coming from. This helps me determine the direction and distance of my ride for the day. Keep up the good work Garmin!
Very complicated with no user instructions on how to operate and download rides. I have spent 2 days trying to get the device set up and how to download routes. It is way too complicated. I wanted to use the heart rate monitor and that wouldn’t connect to Garmin.
