It works great, screen definition is awesome, but the buttons feel very fragile and transmit a low quality feeling, kind of loose. Also the menus are VERY counter intuitive....

No issues so far, took a little bit of time to figure out all the settings and options - but once you figure it out it is very simple to use! It has great battery llife and features. Would recommend!
The bad: no auto-shut off. Livetrack connection is substandard, I'm at a 25% success rate. The good: battery life, lots of features if you want to spend forever figuring out which ones you want and which you don't

Edge 530 Auto Sleep function: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/edge530/EN-US/GUID-4F33550E-15E1-42DF-B4E3-E0CD301E2555.html
For years I have been using a wrist based Garmin for riding as well as running. Now having the 530 out front of me and not looking at my wrist is much safer and more convenient. Since I have been in the Garmin environment for over 15 years (first Garmin was the Forerunner 102) setup was easy. I still use my Venu to broadcast my HR to the 530 since I do not like wearing a chest strap. Overall an excellent unit.
Other than buttons that lack tactile feel, this seems like an excellent piece of hardware so far. The software on the other hand is typical garmin. That is, bad. Things like defaulting to sleep instead of off, having to constantly make unnecessary clicks to cycle from sleep down to off to turn it off (and it does need to be off to preserve battery life). Having the device display altitude acclimatization which then can't be found in the app or on garmin connect, or in the device at a later date. Not to mention the garmin connect app and garmins inability to retain a bluetooth connection to phones for uploading. Transferring connections for HRM and such from prior computers to the new one in setup is a great step, but in all other ways, garmin is SO behind the times in efficient UI design. It is hands down the worst part of their products.

I have been using the Garmin 530 for three weeks. I love it. The screen is easy on the eyes. Changing screens is easy and intuitive. Garmin got it right with this model. I ride 30 miles almost daily. At 77 years, it's the best medicine I take.
The best thing about it is I can actually see the screen while riding compared to my old 520 that was way too dark all the time. Otherwise, the UI is confusing and cumbersome and the buttons impossible to find while wearing MTB gloves. The phone connected features work sometimes and not others - just like my 520. Battery life is very good. It's an improvement but far short of greatness.

I just received my Edge 530 refurbished replacement and it is 'stuck' on a Map Settings screen and will not change screens or even turn off. It also is not responding to being charged. Please contact me to troubleshoot. Thank you.
