I have the 520 Plus and a lot of the problems that I had with this one or solved with the 530 edge. everything's been fixed you can update through a Wi-Fi signal instead of having your phone near you. also the touch screen is not required with all the new buttons on the side like the original 530. if you're training this is almost a requirement and Garmin is the originator of all this GPS stuff. even if you don't use Strava the Garmin app gives you a lot of data so you could read and find out what you can use to improve in your ride.
Already having a Garmin Fenix 5 I was skeptical if it was worth the money however, I am happy to report that it was! The gps mapping on this device is much easier to use while riding than when I had only my watch and the jump feature leads to laughs with friends at the trailhead. Very happy with this product and it is easy to use and read.
I've been weighing purchase of a cycling computer for a while. I was getting by with my phone to track my training rides, but I was left with a decision: put my phone in my pocket and get inaccurate data, or mount it on my handlebars and risk damaging my stupid expensive phone. I did the latter for a while, but when I saw this was on stock I pulled the trigger and I'm so glad I did. The data is MUCH more accurate and overall the computer is super easy to use. Not quite as intuitive as my phone, but still plenty easy for tracking rides.
I haven't fully dug into all of the features, but poking around a bit on the map and some of the other features it seems pretty darn cool.
I've tried many cycling computers and Garmin finally nailed it with the 530. The map function linking to Trail Forks opens up the ability to link new routs without the need of a larger unit. Swap rider profiles for an easy transition between the road and your mtb.
This is the first unit that gives me the battery life, storage, and connectivity that I've been wanting.
Everything works as it should and the unit has been flawless for just about years.
Garmin is always at the forefront of GPS tech, glad to be able to have watched and used the evolution of their gps units from PRE blue tooth to current products.
