Insight switch review

We have been using Netgear switches for 20 years. The hardware itself is fine, however the new Insight platform seems to need work. We had an issue with a port on the switch and could get no information from the connection through Insight. We had to go on site to look at the log information. In addition, there was not port management available through insight either. The Ports page is just blank.

Outstanding Management Capabilities

The flexibility and capabilities offered by the Netgear Insight managed devices are simply amazing. Ridiculously easy to deploy and manage from almost any device, they bring remote management and configuration to another level. Need to add a new wireless network and deploy it to over 20 AP's while you're on the beach in the Caribbean? No problem. These devices make life so much easier for any network manager that they'd be foolish not to try them out!

Good switch poor online offline alerting

The switch works as it should the rub with Insight in general is that I frequently get alerts from all of the sites I manage that they've gone offline but then they come back online 2-3 minutes later. My inbox is filled with alerts emails that are false alarms. My main alerts alerts messages are close to 60K messages and I cannot simply delete all, I have to go page by page like maybe 20 at a time... no thanks!

Installing the switch and using insights to manage it help me find a few places in my network that had been patched or expanded in a less than quality manner. The switch help me see the loops and bottle necks and fix them. I highly recommend this switch.

Have had this installed about a week now. Had some issues with the cloud connection, very frustrating. Took a couple of hours with NETGEAR Support to resolve the issue, but everything is working fine now. Cloud management is limited if you use the web interface you have access to everything.

I've grown to love netgear commercial grade products. The insight line is just a continuation of those switches with new added features of MUCH higher priced switches with the same or better performance. The warranty is excellent, and the sales and support staff at Netgear are top notch.
