Storage lid

This set along with other Melissa and Doug wooden construction sets are too nice not to have a storage lid to keep pieces together. Please sell a wooden storage box with lid to keep these fine toys together. I bought the construction set and the countless ways to spell puzzle kit with 64 loose little letters to keep up with without a storage system!

Very deceptive packaging. All brightly colored cardboard inserts made the set look like a good sized toy with many components. When inserts are thrown away, the wood box holding the pieces is way too big. Who pays attention to the number on box of parts and then mentally figures out that really isn't a lot of things one can make ? One of the lime square bolts broke soon after playing with set as hole was not large enough to go on screw to hold it in place. Screwdriver was not sized correctly. This grandmother will not shop "Melissa & Doug" toys.

Pieces too thin and break easily

Our son got this set for his birthday a month ago. Two pieces got broken within a day, and another one just bit the dust yesterday. Our older son got a similar set at a similar age 6 years ago and nothing has broken, but between then and now the flat building pieces have become thinner and now can be broken easily by an impatient 4 year old guest pulling a bolt out at an angle (bending the piece until it snapped) or by being stepped on by a child. Make the pieces more sturdy, like you used to!

Not the quality I expect from this company

My preK son received this kit as a gift. We love most of our Melissa & Doug toys, and he is definitely enjoying building creatively with this kit. Unfortunately it is very flimsy - four of the wooden pieces have snapped, in "clean" snaps that are nigh impossible to fix with wood glue. This is with a fairly normal rambunctious 4- almost 5-year old style of play, mostly by accidentally dropping/banging into something. He broke two of the longest pieces the very first night he opened it and was devastated to realize he could no longer build most of the suggestions on the box. He also gets frustrated that the screws and bolts from this kit aren't mix-&-match compatible with the ones from the toolbox toy that he already had (which, incidentally, has a limited number of wooden pieces that have lasted for two+ years now). Overall this isn't the long-lasting quality that I expect from Melissa & Doug.

The screws and the holes are not properly aligned and it is difficult to fix the products. You will not be able to fix one item as per the pictures provided.

Run a dayhome. 4 year old boy out his finger in the hole of the flat wood piece. It got so stuck I had to save the piece off to get it off his finger. So unbelievably disappointed and disgusted. This may have been a very large medical issue not to mention hospital visit
