After doing lots of research I purchased the Breville Sous Chef 16 Pro to replace my Cuisinart DLCX-Pro after I could no longer get replacement parts for it. The overall quality and performance of the machine is good. The quality and durability of the large workbowl is terrible. The original bowl that came with the machine developed a large crack at the spindle where the blades attach. The bowl leaked when any liquid was used. I replaced the bowl (at my expense) and it also has now developed a crack in the same place, and leaks even more than the original bowl did. I've seen another review that addresses the same problem. Breville obviously has a big problem with a key part of this food processor. Buyer beware!!!

Can't Find Bowl

I love the Breville Sous Chef Pro. I have had the machine for 3 years but the bowl has now cracked. I find it very frustrating that replacements are not readily available. I have been on hold for hours trying to reach Breville Customer Service, but have not been able to get connected.

I bought this a few years ago. Unfortunately, I have had to replace the bowl and now I am replacing the list. In addition, the "Pusher" cracked, but I live with that. I would not recommend.

I bought the sous chef 16 pro about 4-5 tyears ago after extensively reviewing different food processors. It was a disappointment from the beginning with the lid lock sticking. The discs do not do what they are 'designed' to do, or what they are named for. I have tried multiple times to julienne different vegetables, only to have them mushed. The french fry disc is also a joke. I inevidently do all these options by hand. This processor does the very basics for a very high end price. I have never washed any parts in the dishwasher. However, after using and washing the pieces yesterday, I heard water 'slushing' about inside the large food feed. It cannot be drained out, as there is not way to 'open' any components. This will eventually get disgusting and grow mold inside. As I found from other reviews, I went to re-order a replacement , and the item is "sold out". I am so disgusted. This item is now totally useless. I will not buy breville again.

Big Design Flaw

I was so excited when I bought this on a Saturday and so disappointed when I returned it on the following Friday after using it twice. The machine is very powerful and easily cut beautiful slices, The problematic design flaw is the small openings on the lid and bowl handles. These holes allowed small bits of food and water to get trapped in the handles with no way to get them out.

Very powerful and fast machine. Although more expensive than many competitors, I ran a comparison and found it stands out in quality of the material/construction, stability and power of the engine and ease of cleaning. I liked that the main bowl had no hole in the middle and although the small bowl has no separate cover it keeps the food in just fine. I cook extensively and use both the large & small bowls for a large number of food preparations, especially if it involves finely chopped/shredded/sliced foods. It can make dough but I found that the egg (if I am using) tends to collect in the middle and it is too powerful making it tricky to keep a pastry dough tender. I am very happy with my purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Flawed

I received the Breville Sous Chef as a retirement gift a little over a year ago. The processer is used once or maybe twice a month. I only hand wash the bowl, etc., and have never place it in the dishwasher. After approximately 15 uses, there is now a stress crack at the bottom of the bowl where it attaches to spindle. After doing some research I found out this is a know issue. I have tried to call Breville for assistance to resolve this issue but the hold time is well over an hour.

Used daily in a commercial kitchen / cafe to make quick sauces, chopping nuts, and rouh cut toasted cinnamon bark prior to grinding in a spice mill. I mostly just use the large slicing blade in the full size work bowl. I haven’t yet used the dough blade or the shredding attachments. The clear work bowl is nice to see through on the sides, I just wish they made an optional metal bowl for cutting hard tiems (like cinnamon) which stratch the inside of the plastic. The mini work bowl is nice for very small tasks with dry ingrdients, but it still dirties the large bowl a little bit as well.
