Carry on weight Luggage restrictions no more.

I needed a bag that was light I could transport my camera around to locations arounds Australia. We have a carry on restriction of 7 kgs. Most camera bags weigh in at around 2 kgs and limits what you can carry on the plane. With the camera cube medium, I carry a nikon z9,50mm,35mm,20mm,70-200mm and my Microsoft Surface pro 8 in the one bag. I use this with a Peak slide strap attached to the bag. Because of the size of the bag the flight weight police dont even weigh my bag when they do there inspection (Jetstar normally). Then when I arrive at my destination I put the cube back in my 45l travel backback that was stored in my check in luggage

Peak Design Medium CubeV1-Good,but could be better

I have been using the V1 Medium and Small Cubes with my 45L Travel Backpack for a few years now. The whole line of Tavel Backpack and the Cubes have been well designed and well thought
Pros:
Well made protection for the camera. The Medium and the Small fit well together to take up 100% of the 45L Travel Backpack.
For the Medium Cube, the slide zip openings are very useful and work well with the side openings on the Backpack itself. The dividers are super flexible and very useful. See the attached picture for how I have set it up to carry one full-frame DSLR with 24-70, another crop-DSLR with 70-200 and the 135mm sitting on the side. For this arrangement, I have not used the small cube. Sometimes, I just like to use the Medium and leave the top space of the Backpack free for Flashes, Books, etc.
Cons:
There are few main cons for me here -
1. The side zip openings could have been more edge-to-edge where the flap completely opens. See the attached picture where you can see the cube material blocking the area where you pull out the camera. I hope PD has fixed this with the V2 Cubes.
2. Also, the cube to backpack side attachment loops need to be more out of the way of the cube side flaps. They are currently sitting on the flap itself, thereby hindering the operability of the flap. Look at the attached picture.
3. It would be nice to be able to completely take the flaps off by providing an all-around zipper. So, if we do not want the flap in the way (to reduce weight as well), we can completely take it off!
For me, the greatest con is this - I cannot easily pull and restore back my camera out of the backpack’s side panel access point. It takes a bit of finagling and forcing to make it work. If the openings on the medium cube were just as wide as the cube itself, this would be resolved! Hope this is resolved with the Cube V2!

So close to perfect

First off, let me just say the build quality of this is top notch. The dimensions are perfect whereas many other bags were too large in one dimension or another to efficiently pack in my gear. I'm able to fit my D7100, 70-300 f/4.5-6.3, 35 f/1.8, a 10-20 f/4.5-5.6, a filter pouch, , camera strap, and a small charger in here. My only gripe would be that I'm not sure why they tapered one end of the bag, and I wish that it was on the other end of the zippered opening, as it means I can only keep my lenses at the back of the pouch, requiring me to open it all the way to reach them when I've got this stuffed vertically into a backpack.

Hard to Fit My Mirrorless Gear in Small Camera Cube
on May 15, 2021
Posted by: Anonymous
I'm using Fujifilm APS-C mirrorless these days. Lens are a bit smaller than the Full Frame mirrorless lenses. The small camera cube's shape (especially the curved ends), and the adaptability of the included partitions don't work well with my gear. If I pull out all of the partitions, I can fit the amount of gear I want to in this space; very hard to get even 80% of that gear to fit with the partitions. I did buy more partitions from the peak design website to better configure this space closer to the way I want to; I get the rest of the way using neopryne wraps to allow better stacking of smaller lenses. Curse of the APS-C sized mirrorless gear in a full frame mirrorless world.

Almost perfect.

I bought the large camera cube for my new Peak Design Travel Backpack and there are a few things I want to mention for the next generation cube.
Peak Design, no one is going to wear the camera cube by itself like a backpack. This feature is unnecessary. I'm buying this camera cube to go inside a backpack and if I want something smaller or standalone, I will just get a different bag all together.
Because this was engineered this way, I am having difficulty fitting everything inside. Let me explain, due to the zipper and flap (which doesn't need to be there to begin with,) the cube has material running all around the edge which prohibits seemless access in the very edges of the cube. If the cube was completely unobstructed then it would be perfect. We're buying these huge backpacks for a reason and I personally wish all my gear was accessible without it getting caught on the excess fabric.

I bought this and returned it as it was way to big for my pack. Looking to get a backpack in the future.

The only good thing about this product is its durability. But I find it bulky and eats all the space in my 45L travel backpack. I don't feel satisfied with it.
