Great but there is MAJOR DESIGN FLAW
on July 1, 2024

At first I loved this product, but then I realized that if you do not push the lever all the way down, which is easy to do, then it's possible to push it back up without pushing on the side buttons - my 3 year old thinks it's fun to do. The unfortunate result is that I've gotten locked in a room more than once. Luckily my kids have been with me and I have family nearby who could come to the rescue. But there should be ZERO possibility for the lever to be moved the buttons being pushed. MAJOR DESIGN FLAW AND SAFETY ISSUE. SAFETY LAST.

Impossible to remove from painted doors
on July 1, 2024

These locks are on almost every door of the home we bought. They are near impossible to remove without damaging the paint on the door. The black adhesive does not come off cleanly, even while using a hair dryer and fishing line. Have been trying to get the remaining adhesive off of the door, off and on, for the past two days. We have not yet completely removed the adhesive on the first door, and we still have six more doors to do. Going to buy some Goo Gone and hope it works!

Parents Beware!!! You can get locked in with this!

Our 1 year old closed the door and locked us all in his room. You Do Not have to push the sides in to move the clamps. The clamps move freely to the locked position without pushing the buttons in on the side BUT do not reopen easily. My husband has to break the door down to get us out. Thank God the House wasn't on fire or some other emergency. Do not buy!

Not recommended for wood doors

Very difficult to remove. Had to use a heat gun and chemicals to get it off. Ultimately, we ruined our door. Have to take it off to re-stain. This would work great on plastic or steal doors, but I think you would still have a tough time removing the black adhesive from the safety lock. It's a chore for sure...

Very Strong, Tricky Temoval

Install Very easy to install. You just peel the backing and stick it on. It was a bit off on our door because the design of our door isn't completely flat but the little bit that wasn't adhesed to anything didn't make a difference. Use It was easy for most people in our house to use. My husband and I had no issues with locking/unlocking. My parents had a harder time. Like other people mentioned, you can lock it without pressing the buttons, so that was an issue once our son was a bit older. During a party, an older guest got locked in the bathroom because he put the lock in place while the door was open and then couldn't pull the lever down when he tried to come out. Removal You'll have to use some hacks. It was easy enough once I used some tricks. I used fishing line to "floss" between the door and the lock. Once the lock was off, the black adhesive backing stayed. I used a blow dryer to soften the adhesive and started at a corner to peel slowly until it was all off. I kept the heat on the entire time so just be careful.

This is crazy difficult to remove. I had to saturate the back with Goo Gone, and pry with floss, until the floss broke. I then tried to pry with fishing lie until it broke. Both of which cut up my hands, but did make a little leeway. Applied more Goo Gone. Asked my husband to help me. He used a twisting motion on it until it gave way. Then i used a razor blade to get off the residual adhesive and foam. All I can say is I'm happy it's gone.. Whew!

Great to install, hard to remove
on July 1, 2024

This lock was very simple to install and was able to keep my very smart 2 year old from opening doors. However, now that he's 4 and we no longer need it, it is impossible to remove. There are no videos or instructions anywhere about how to remove it. Luckily I only put them on 2 doors in the house and not all of them.
