Just a headache.

I have two of these and when it's working it's great, but it's easy for it to all fall apart because of the poor way this gate is designed. My one year old has already torn the door right out of its frame and she doesn't even lift. Specifically the top hinge can just flop out and doesn't sink in like you expect it to (you can see this even in promo photos here). That alone is one thing but the instructions included with the gate show a different model with a DIFFERENT hinge system! How are you supposed to trust a gate that doesn't even come with the right instructions? You can see this in real time right now as the pdf of the instructions is linked on this store page. And forget the lock being level, that's not happening. One side just ends up slightly higher than the other no matter due to the odd hinge. The lock mechanism still works fine but doesn't inspire confidence. The promo pictures here can't even get those to be level either. Pieces pull apart over time/useage. Everything can be put back and refastened but you need to keep a close eye on it or it will pop out and an inopportune moment. Overall this gate is just a headache, which is the last thing you need with a new baby.

Latch isn't reliable.

While we like the ease of the one-handed opening, my preschoolers quickly figured out how to open the gate. Within two weeks of installation, the mechanism inside stopped working and the gate would no longer latch. My husband took it apart and looked at all the pieces. Everything seemed to be in working order, but the gray piece wouldn't pop out, so the gate won't latch and lock anymore. I'm definitely disappointed.

I normally recommend this brand to new parents. Affordable and normally crafted well. I had put 2 of these on our baby registry as well as a few other safety first products. One of the two gates the locking mechanism started to get harder to open and close. It has now finally become impossible for my wife to open. Very disappointed to read this happens often. Afraid quality in the other products may soon suffer as well unless the company intervenes.

Ouch!

It's definitely sturdy but it is too hard to unlatch. We have it at the top of our stairs so we have to go through it several times a day. After a day, the joints in your hand hurt after needing to use so much hand strength to open the latch. I am due with my 2nd baby and don't think we will be able to keep the gate there because I won't be able to open it one handed.

We use these gates for our toddler and our dogs! Easy to set up and install. Heavy-duty but not overly bulky. Easy swing to close. Love it!

Lock gets stuck. Hard to open.

Really dissapointed... We bought this baby gate 1 week ago and it worked great for about 3 days then the lock became so hard to open.. even with 2 hands as an adult I can't get it sometimes. I Have to put my baby down on the ground everytime and try to pry it open with 2 hands. Not convenient at all. Hurts my hands also, thats how much pressure I have to put to open it. Really sad about this because I love everything else about the gate ...

Buyer beware

The locking mechanism is horrible. Tried adjusting the tension several times on 2 different gates i own. Either too loose to where the baby can open the gate himself or too tight to where even the strongest dexterity can not engage the buttons to unlock the bolt magnet.
