Porcelain enamel disintegrated itself!

This is a sleek looking easy to use oven, which we were very happy with until we finally decided to give the self-clean function a try!
During self cleaning, the porcelain enamel on the bottom of oven cracked and now after less than a year of use a huge chunk of the enamel (the size of an adult foot) has chipped off leaving the metal exposed. Every time the oven is cleaned sharp pieces of porcelain break off leaving the oven looking like crap and susceptible to rust.
For a 3k$ oven, I would have expected much better quality. I have owned other self-cleaning ovens (including GE) for 10+ years and have never had the enamel flake off before. I recommend looking elsewhere - there are some definite quality control issues here.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
