This light is chic and very cool. The ease of use is wonderful. We can quickly assemble to move throughout the house for various projects. My husband and I spend a lot of time doing detailed projects, drawings and crafts and the ability to adjust the lighting is key. We are both "dimmer" people and this lamp is the ultimate "dimmer" lamp. The light is also soft and easier on your eyes than most lamps. A nice addition for all of our projects as well as reading.

This light fits in perfect with the overall minimalist design I have going on in my house. Dyson has improved the assembly over previous models. You no longer require screws to fasten the arm of the light to the base. Simply align and snap it in! I had it fully assembled in less than 3 minutes. The power and dimming touch controls built into the head of the task light are very responsive. I like that this is more of spotlight. You can focus or widen the beam by raising or lowering the arm. This is especially helpful when you need to focus light on things you're crafting or drafting. For me, it's incredibly useful for when I'm painting miniatures.
I would say the only drawback is that this lamp is a bit large. If it were a little smaller, I could possibly use it as a end table or nightstand lamp. But it is a task lamp, so I guess it's meant for actual desks.

The light itself is really great for not causing eye strain, but really size wise it is purposed for a work desk. Having it in the bedroom isn’t the best option, as it’s large and wide. Love the quiet sound, no typical bulb buzzing, and good brightness

Precise and powerful desk light

I bought this a few weeks ago and thought why did I pay so much for a desk lamp. Working for Apple I know the importance of developing technology that actually delivers on what it says it is going to do. The Dyson CSYS tase light did not disappoint. I am able to see with precision what I am working on and love the ability to change based on time of day by syncing with the location I'm in. This light is by far the best desk lamp I have every used and so far worth EVERY penny!

This light is very sleek and cool looking, like all Dyson products.
Smartly packaged with assembly directions / photo's on the lid of box as well as a small booklet included.
Easy to assemble in under 5 minutes.
Fingertip touch on and off, as well as a slide level to adjust brightness of light.
Works great on a desk or small area; when light on full strength gives enough light to work in small area without other room lighting on.
Light slides up and down vertically.
Would have rated 5 stars if the arm would move diagonally as well.

With this light I shall shine away the darkness that lingers the the evil souls of humanity. Only this light is powerful enough to show the non-believers the true way of the cult of the deep pockets. The beam that shines forever shall reach Mars and Neptune, and the edges of the universe. Only with this light shall you become the supreme shining star that begets more and more stars, as you suddenly collapse into a supermassive black hole, only to cease to exist as memories of what used to be become gone and undone, for now and forevermore.

I want to love it - but too much trouble at this stage

I really loved the design of the lamp from the first time I set eyes on it. I'm a big fan of industrial design and although our home is decorated a bit more traditionally I was sure I could fit it into our existing decor. I first placed the lamp on a small table next to a chair I use for reading and later moved it to my bedside.
I experienced the same trouble in both of these settings. The lamp would randomly turn on, which at first I thought was a feature - using sensors to identify times when the light would be most appropriate. Apparently, this is not a feature and instead led to me getting chastised for both leaving the light on overnight and; once moved to the bedroom, for waking up my wife in the middle of the night when it turned on. The only solution was unplugging the lamp from the wall.
The adjustability and ease of use of this lamp are great. It took very little time (maybe 15 minutes) to unbox and set up and worked well as a reading lamp. The angle of the light doesn't adjust, however, which is something I had become used to with previous reading lamps. Another thing to note is that the way the lamp adjusts is with a relatively long 'arm' which limited the usefulness for my nightstand in the corner. I could only use the lamp with the 'arm' fully extended. Separately, if your nightstand isn't tall enough and you have a high mattress/boxspring/frame combination, there's a chance the lamp won't be tall enough to provide proper light for reading.
I also wish this lamp had a wireless (qi) charger in the base and the ability to work with Apple HomeKit. The base is large enough that it could easily serve as a phone or other device charger and allow you to remove other charging devices from your desk.
Overall, at this point, it's a very nice looking lamp with limited usability.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought the CSYS Desk Task Light a few weeks ago for my office; the Task Light is very stylish and serves the purpose of convenience and elegance. The traditional lamp took up a lot of my desk space, new Dyson is designed so well for its simplicity, easy navigation, installation and purposeful use as the essential electrical item for one's office!
