Ice On Demand!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this for our new home and we love it. The ice is the perfect size (about 1 inch square) for all kinds of drinks. When we use large amounts for parties, it is quickly replenished.

Don't know how I lived without it!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When we planned our kitchen reno it was the perfect time to add an icemaker. We plumbed wiring, water, and drain into the cabinet space during the reno, so installation was a breeze.
I had a number of options on which icemaker to select and thought KitchenAid was the best choice. And after months with it, I'm convinced adding this icemaker to out kitchen was the smartest thing we did.
I will say, this thing makes ice!! When we take a lot of ice out (to fill coolers, etc.) we are back to full pretty quickly.
I really like the size of the cubes and the clarity of the ice. Add them to a beverage and all you see is clear ice -- no cloudiness, no impurities, just clean, clear ice.
It's not the most quiet appliance -- I hear the drain pump running from time to time (it runs for 10 sec. at a time, maybe?) and the appliance makes a single knocking sound now and then, I guess as ice falls, hits the side of the tub, not sure.
The only thing I find odd, and I guess most ice makers are this way, is the tub is not refrigerated, so ice does eventually melt. I imagined the drain pump running constantly as the ice melted, and for my water bill to increase due to all the water the icemaker uses. But the water bill did not go up as I feared, so the amount of water it's using and draining must be much less than I thought.
Bottom line -- very happy to have an icemaker in our kitchen, very happy that we have a KitchenAid, and we love, love, love the ice it makes.

Didn't work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unit was installed professionally, it runs but doesn't make ice. Presumed to be a defective unit, so second unit is on order. Hopefully better luck with next one but long wait on getting replacement unit.

Not working

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ice maker was installed by a professional exactly five days ago. It was supposed to take 24 hours before making the first batch of ice. To this minute, it has not made a single block of ice. So disappointed. Will call for service and hopefully it can be fixed

Quit working after 10 days

A dead ice machine on delivery

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This new ice machine was delivered on Jan 9. I turned it on and an hour later it was off. Service call indicated a new mother board and pump was necessary. Waiting for that to be installed later this week.

I replaced my Kitchen Aid with this Kitchen Aid, so I am happy with the brand. I have not had it in for a full month, so I cannot really say. I gave it five stars because it is working perfectly now-why don’t you ask me a year from now? That would be ‘the proof in the pudding”.

Easy to install, drain pump works well, sleek commercial style, fairly quiet, and the ice output and quality is excellent. I wish they would include one water filter with the machine, but that would be my only complaint.
