Solid idea, flawed execution

I've used the Case Logic Era (Large) for about two years, yet it never really "clicked" for me. Yes, it does its job carrying around your camera + accessoires, but it's not very easy to use when it comes to (regularly) reaching your gear.
It's quite easy to whip out your main camera, as long as you keep it at the top compartment (as seen in the product photos), but everything else is pretty much locked away. You have to lay the bag down and completely zip it open if you want to, for example, swap out a lens or access some of the stuff that's further down. During busy shoots or work days, this can become quite a hassle, and you might look like a dweeb doing this whole spiel on the ground at, let's say, a convention or in a busy city center.
In addition to that, the netted hammocks on the sides start to tear up after minimal use, if you actually use those to carry around smaller tripods. I've carried around a GorillaPod 3K in mine for about a year, and the rubber rings on the tripod (combined with some stretch and friction) damage the fabric rather easily. The fabric starts to flake off, eventually leaving only the rubber band for you fasten tripods/bottles in.
Otherwise, the bag's pretty nice. It certainly looks good, and the make-your-own compartments from red fabric and velcro are sturdy and nice to customize. It's giving "professional camera bag" on a lot of sides, it's just clearly for photographers and videographers that rarely need to access their stuff throughout the day.
Mine got stolen last month while it was filled up to the brim with gear (ouch, lol), and I'm pretty sure I'll be replacing this one with something else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
