[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Opened new ink cartridge and immediately had ink all over hands. Needed to act quickly to keep from spilling everywhere. Thankfully only ruined an old dog bed. Needless to say we're very disappointed with the purchase.

Hi there,
Discovering the cartridge you received is leaking has to be truly awful. I am sorry about what happened to you.
You must carefully unwrap this type of cartridge. While leaking is more common with refills, it can also happen with a damaged or defective cartridge.
A vent near the cartridge label will normally be opened when the tab is pulled completely loose, and the outer plastic covering is removed from around the cartridge. It is important that the vent is open to prevent the cartridge from leaking, particularly when you twist off the orange tab prior to installing the cartridge.
On defective and remanufactured cartridges, you might have to clear the vent with a straight pin to keep it from leaking.

Hi,
I’m sorry that you had this problem. It is likely that the printer is not getting a good connection with the cartridge.
The contacts on the cartridge might be smudged or damaged. Carefully polish the copper contacts on the cartridge (and the matching ones inside the printer) with lint-free material to get off fingerprints or dust.
If that does not help, please consider returning it to us. Instructions for completing the return and exchange process is covered at: store.hp.com/us/en/cv/returnsandexchanges
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this item a month ago and am so happy with the purchase! This cartridge lasts twice as long as the smaller 910! Thanks HP!
Cartridge is great however delivery was terrible. My package was brought to me by a very kind gentleman that lives at least 3 miles from us and in his neighborhood found it in the grass as he said he saw it fall off the delivery truck. So had it not been for a good Samaritan I would not have gotten my package.
After printing only about 20 to 26 items, we’re being told low ink. Something is definitely wrong. Bought straight through you and we’re totally disappointed. You should send me a free ink.

Hi Rich,
I am sorry that you had this experience. It was sure to be disappointing.
Normally, ink usage determines how long a cartridge lasts. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is very absorbent and the air is dry.
Here are some things that might help you to get the cartridge to last longer: - Use the printer's draft mode whenever possible to help stretch out your ink - Using the black-only setting will save on colored ink usage - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying. - Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
