Stepped up to full-frame from crop sensor and love the results. I primarily shoot family and some nature so no need for 10 fps. The auto-focus is so much better than my 10 year old DSLR, even at f1.8 on the 50mm prime and colors are right on. And the eye detect is a game changer. Still getting used to all the Canon controls and menus but they are well organized. Still experimenting with the new control ring on the 24-105mm but I appreciate the programmability-very cool. I hesitate to give 5 stars only because of battery life (but will anyway), I hope that Canon will eventually release a battery grip for the RP. Lastly, the iPhone app works great for both remote control and image transfer.

The Most Underrated

As a natural progression for a hobbyist, I reached the point where I needed to upgrade my game and enter the world of full-frame camera. I started with EOS T3i for 5 years then got my Rebel SL3 for a year, which I loved and adored. But I could see that the future is going mirrorless and I decided to start investing slowly. The question was EOS R or the RP. If you look at the specs, the R excels on certain aspects. But I compared shots from both and videos from both, and shockingly I couldn’t spot any difference. The camera is a beast in real world, and is a great option for even pro-photographers. The price is really great and it might fool you to think that this beauty might underperform. But make no mistakes, this is a great camera; Sturdy built and feels great in hand, the processor is amazing, the User Interface is seamless and makes you feel like your using a cellphone OS. I would suggest to start investing in the RF lenses as they are the future, though it’s bit expensive (but you get what you pay for). I am loving the RF 24-105 f/4. You get amazing sharp photos, great bokeh, cinematic shots and fairly priced. Depends on what you’re doing, you might need 70-200mm later, but it’s great for travel and as all-around lens. If you’re looking at this review, then you are considering it or perhaps you’ve done your homework and just want an average consumer opinion. I would highly recommend this one . The price difference between this one and the R or Ra will get you closer to get a RF lens (a needed upgrade in your lens arsenal), it’s good for videos as for photos unless you are shooting sports or running cheetahs! Lastly, I have you mention that I got support from canon customer service to make my purchase over the phone and it was a pleasant experience. That is also a key factor in making purchase decisions as you are diving into their echo system where support is important along the way.

Amazing Entry to Full-frame Mirrorless!

I recently received my EOS RP and RF 24-105mm L kit, and am thoroughly pleased! Let me preface my review by saying I've shot almost every Canon camera and lens combo there is, semi-professionally, so I have a good level of experience. The first thing I said to myself (maybe outloud) was this just feels perfect in hand! The camera is smaller than a 6D, and really only a little larger than an M5/M50. It feels very robust, not flimsy at all. The dials all have a solid feel to tem, like a 5D series. I absolutely love the ergonomics of this camera, and the new RF 24-105! I am a portrait and event shooter, so I will not get into video dialogue here. For stills, this camera is just great! There are many levels of customizations (button mapping, setting min. shutter speed in ISO settings), and advanced features in the menu (such as AF sensitivity and manual focus ring sensitivity, and lens control ring settings) that I was pleasantly surprised to see! Fully articulating screen, touch to drag AF, an EVF with a menu that rotates with camera orientation, and of course being able to see your shot live before you press the shutter button, allow you endless possibilities for composition! Image quality-wise...fantastic! Great colors, saturation, and contrast. Low light shooting is a breeze with the new 24-105! Please see attached pics, that show easy captures at 1/10 second hand-held with the upgraded image stabilization. The new 24-105 lens is such an improvement over previous models! It's very sharp, nearly edge to edge wide open, throughout the entire focal range with fantastic clarity and colors. The new design is also better ergonomically. The zoom ring has a new "flared ridge" that gives you a subtle, but useful difference in tactile feel. Also. the addition of the control ring on the lens gives you even more on-demand control of the settings. The lens is shorter and a little bit lighter than the EF Mark II version, which makes it easier to pack and use. Overall, I think this camera is simply an amazing, high-quality, affordable entry into full-frame shooting, and is really suitable for beginner to advanced users!

Coming from the owner of a 6D, this was a subtle upgrade. I am not a professional but have done a few shoots for family and friends. I bought this camera primarily for the autofocus features. The eye tracking has already come in handy while trying to take pictures of my kids. I like the size. It’s similar to the average crop sensor. The grip attachment made it feel a lot more comfortable for my big hands. The camera feels solid and of high quality. Battery life is fine, still shows full charge after around 70 shots. I have yet to stress test the battery so I can’t speak on overall life. So far so good. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Even for a seasoned pro, this camera comes packed with features that make this a game changer. I love the new RF 24-105 F4. It far surpasses the quality of any EF Lens. And anyone who tells you otherwise simply can't afford it.

This lens is the worst.

I can’t comment on this body but this lens came with my 5DIII. It is an embarrassment to the L glass brand. Strong barrel distortion and the depth of field is not great. Even the 28-135 is much better.
