I really want to love this product

I bought a set and decided to wash them first following the instructions. After washing the toys had a very strong bleach odor. We do not use bleach or chlorine. Just an unscented gentle laundry soap. we let them air dry for two weeks before contacting Melissa and Doug. Their customer service is top notch, which is why I give this two stars instead of 1. They sent us another set. and decided to hand wash this new batch. Same thing happened. As soon as you wash these toys even with just water they begin to off-gas a strong chlorine/bleach smell. Melissa and Doug assured me they have a 3rd party testing facility to comply with all regulations, but I can't see this being safe still.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Seven month old is now tossing them and knocking stacks over! I am going to order another set! They should be good fun for the child until at least two years of age!

These blocks are great! We have used them with baby since he was just doing tummy time. They are definitely a simple toy but can be used in so many ways. Now he likes to crawl towards them. Or even knock down big towers. There is plenty to do on the blocks as well - lots of art that I'm sure he will utilize in years to come as well.
