The hardware is good - the app makes it useless

Have been using this camera for over a year within the NVW-490 wireless system with 3 cameras hooked on to it. The hardware itself is good as recording is concerned however the iOS app AlwaysSafe is the clunkiest piece of software ever made. Retrieving recordings or getting live view is just a matter of luck and you'll need to access the recording hub via mouse and TV screen to actually see the footage. The app is bug-ridden and hasn't been updated in ages however the product is still available on the market. Customers be aware.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just had to give an update, I am thrilled with the cameras so far (of course only had them less than a couple weeks!), I did go and get the 2 additional cameras; as I am in the country with less than great internet service and bandwidth (not to mention limited data) I have the cameras set at 720p - even so the quality for my use is really good, the night vision is wonderful, I can view the horses in their stalls at 03:00hrs and not get out of bed - how awesome is that?! I have figured out the application that goes along with the cameras, and even put the desktop version on my laptop (though the sound doesn't work on the desktop). The 2 new cameras setup real fast and connected no problem. Those of you having issues with adding cameras should shut down the NVR (unplug it, poweroff, etc) and then restart. Yep would recommend!

i bought the SR-NVW490N 4 camera wifi

its range is about 20 ft (6meters) and wont go thru a single brick wall so forget about using all the 4 cameras for the average house i replaced my arlo with this one that was a big mistake it was 10 times better and had a decent wifi range of about 50 ft (15meters) this is no more then an expensive toy even at the 20ft range it keeps dropping out my worst buy for 2019

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the issues you had with our Swann Wireless Camera System. Try placing the cameras closer to your NVR if running in AP mode, or closer
to your Wi-Fi access point if running in Station mode. You can also change the channel that your NVR and or Wi-Fi access point operates on. All Wi-Fi devices communicate over specific wireless channels. Neighboring Wi-Fi home networks that run over the same channel will generate radio interference that will cause network performance slowdowns (see page 41 on the manual). Consult the instruction manual for your Wi-Fi access point on how to change the channel for that device.

We can also recommend using a Wifi extender to help improve your experience.

Terrible app

I bought this with two cameras, but the app is so bad, that this set is almost non functional. Live stream just about works, but playback is broken and jumpy rendering it useless. Swann haven’t updated the app in 6 months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Based on the feedback provided, your network may not reach the bandwidth speed requirements or the application is loading footage in sub-stream. Please be sure your network reaches the bandwidth speed requirements. Try loading the main-stream footage for a higher resolution video.

Perfect addition

I bought this to add a camera to my existing security system. It's the same camera as what came with my system.
Note: After installing the additional camera it showed up on my wireless system at home on the HardDrive/Monitor but didn't show up on the smart phone app. After trying numerous fixes I unplugged the hard drive power source then plugged it back in and when it powered up all camera's were on the app now.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I own 8 of these running two wireless systems. I think they're great. Excellent daylight video and the night time video is good enough for my security needs. Like with anything WiFi you have to expect some connection problems and aggravation when setting up. If you can get past those problems, these are nice cameras. WiFi on these are slightly better than others I have tried. Fast shipping, good price.
