The ONLY Large Capacity Ventless Available
on September 12, 2021

This is our replacement ventless dryer, purchased to replace an almost identical Whirpool model from 6 years ago. I estimate that I run 8 to 10 loads per week. The previous one required quite a few service calls. I was hoping that Whirlpool had improved the model but so far, after one week, it looks pretty much and sounds pretty much the same. It is loud. This dryer has two lint filters and you MUST clean or check both after each load. The previous version had a black foam insert in the lower filter, and WP has eliminated it, but the filter housing is identical. It appears that behind the lower filter, inside the machine, where there used to be a screen that I would vacuum about every two weeks, there now is some different looking. So I will vacuum in there, but I have no idea what will stop extra lint from going up around the drum because that was a previous problem. I wish WP would have inserted a better sound dampening blanket material inside the housing, the way they used to do in dishwashers a few years back. I would think that engineers have developed something by this time that would work with heat, etc. But at least, WP manufacturers this machine. No other residential laundry equipment manufacturer for the US is selling anything nearly this size. So they own this segment of the market.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am also DONE with Whirlpool

If I could give zero stars I would. I loved the dryer when I first bought it. Then after about a month the clothes did not dry during a regular cycle. Thank goodness I purchased the service contract from my local store. The store is losing money for the amount of times this dryer breaks down. The control board has been replaced early on, glad my service contract was not that expensive.
Here is a list of my complaints:
1. The dryer is now eating my clothes. The in-drum lint filter does not sit flush and clothes are getting caught and ripped up.
2. The gaskets for the secondary lint filter are not tight. Lint is getting into the convection coils (heat pump) and blowing into the laundry room. Fine lint is getting everywhere. Am I breathing this fine lint in? Is this going to pose health risks in the future?
3. The dryer runs and does not stop if I have a small load. They dryer used to be able to sense that the clothes are dry and stop. This is wasting extreme amounts of electricity!
4. The heat pump seems to smell like mildew. As if water is building up and not being removed. So my clothes do not smell fresh.
5. I waited 3 months for a replacement part and had NO dryer! All clothes had to be hung up outside. Coming back from vacation took me over a week to get all the laundry done.
If this machine is a lemon, Whirlpool needs to provide me with a new dryer!
If this is not a lemon, DO NOT by this dryer. It will cause you nothing but trouble. By a different brand!!!!!!

My wife HATES this dryer

Do not by this dryer. We are on our 3rd unit under warranty. The current unit had not died yet but it takes 2.5 hours to dry and is an energy pug. We did 2 loads today. The dryer pulled 7kw which is on par with a standard resistant heat dryer. This is supposed to be energy efficient. It will slowly get worse as the lint builds up in the machine not allowing it to work efficiently. At that point i will need to disassemble to clean it out.

Dryer can be located without concern for venting.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We searched for a dryer that would work for our new location. After comparing several models, we purchased Whirlpool. After some use, we are pleased with the performance. One issue however, the door for the second filter in the front could use some redesign. It doesn’t lock very well and is quite flimsy. Adding the price for a proper door would not have changed my purchase as much as the plastic after thought door.

Waste of money

This dryer is just mired with the E2 and F9 error code issues. Just google this model and those error codes and you'll see a slew of discussion on how the owner should solve this issue. The warranty on this product is good for only one year and the service techs are often stumped and misplace the board or the pump which is essentially a band-aid issue. This product essentially has a shelf life of around 1-2 years before the dreaded E2/F9 takes over.
Talk about a bad product. Super disappointed.

All other negative reviews are spot on. Avoid.

I bought this dryer for my allergies as it is the only large heat pump dryer around that can fit comforters, blankets and rugs that I need to wash regularly. I will never buy from Whirlpool again after this experience.
They don't stand behind their products. They also avoid specifying in the manual exactly how cleaning the lint accumulation on the coils needs to be done, just that it should be done every 2 years. If they did, NO ONE WOULD BUY THIS DRYER. The only way to do this is for the serviceperson to disassemble the ENTIRE dryer to access this area. Who on earth would buy a dryer that has to be disassembled top to bottom routinely? This introduces opportunity for more problems each time if it's not put back together properly and for disconnecting and reconnecting pieces continuously.
All the other reviews are SPOT ON about the design flaw with the filters not being airtight and causing lint accumulation on the coils. Vacuuming religiously helps but doesn't stop it. This lint eventually gets mildewy due to condensation so clothes smell after a cycle. After 3 years I finally had a serviceperson come to clean the disgusting mildewy mat of lint off the coils at the front and all across the machine by disassembling the ENTIRE machine. I have been running it this week and already am concerned it wasn't put back together properly as the moisture sensor isn't working well now. One load was bone dry yet it said it was damp and still had 46 mins to go. Clothes seem to be getting stuck on top of the primary lint trap too and blocking air flow.
Unbelievable that I spent all this money for such a poorly designed dryer that I likely will have to replace sooner than later. And it's still being sold. I will also never trust our appliance store either after this experience. I reached out to them and they said they don't service, they only fix problems so it was up to me to contact Whirlpool. Whirlpool did nothing except say read the manual and that they would note down this issue. Clearly they don't care if it's still being sold despite all our reviews mentioning the same issue. I had to organize and pay for the three hundred and fifty dollar service call myself.

Faulty design!
on November 10, 2023

This is the worst dryer I have ever had in my life. The design is totally faulty and it should be recalled for it by the manufacture. The lint gets into the machine and clogs up the unit. The metal filter in the front cannot be removed and so we had to cut the metal in order for us to access the clogged up unit. With a soft toothbrush we had to clean out thick layers of lint. Because the machine accumulates lint everywhere (and we clean the filters after every time we use it), it takes hours for anything to dry. Horrible machine!
