The coffee has a a smooth taste. I didn’t really taste much of the toffee flavor that I was expecting. It could be because I am used to a bolder toffee flavor as in candy. Even though it lacked a bold toffee flavor, It was very smooth going down and didn’t leave a bitter taste in your mouth as some coffees do.
I find coffee to be a paradox. When I think of flavored coffee, the smooth, highly sweetened blends that come over the counter at Dunkin come to mind. I struggle with the flavored versions because of an inherent bitterness. I don't know if it is the artificial flavors that require a dash of sugar or if the coffee is a darker roast which invites the bitter taste. I am just trying to find a nutty flavored coffee that is not bitter. So, with that said, this Butter Toffee has a strong flavor added that requires some sugar to smooth out the bite but not necessarily the after taste. But again, I believe Seattle's Best Hazelnut is going to be my go-to for roasted nut flavored coffee.
